July 19, 1834 age 23 years.  Stone is supposed to be gone.  This is probably Michael Young's first wife Emily (Hocker) Young.

Scrub Hill

The Lathrops of Wayne County live on and around Scrub Hill.  This is a hill southwest of Wayne City and southeast of Keenes, IL.  My mom asked me if there was a Scrub Hill website and I googled it.  Ours is not the only Scrub Hill!

A cousin has set up a Lathrop Family of Scub Hill Facebook page.  I'm not sure the link will work if you aren't a member.  

Scrub Hill Press in Virginia publishing books related to medicine. 

Scrub Hill Community Farm run by the Korrawinga Aboriginal Community near Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia.  The farmers are said to produce organic vegetables, tea-tree oil and works of art.

No known military service.

In 1822 William Goff, of Sheldon, brother of Hezekiah Goff, came to town, and for the sum of $1,000 bought the falls and much of the land surrounding.  He put into the saw-mill previously built by Blaisdell a run of stones for grinding.  Mr. Goff afterwards built the grist-mill now standing.  In making repairs on this mill, in 1884, the following inscription was found on the back side of the bolt: "The first grist-mill built in Richford was built by Colonel Seymour in 1797, burnt up in 1800.  The second built in 1803, by Jonathan Janes, and stood until William Goff built another in 1824.  William Goff built, in 1837, the mill now standing.  Men worked on this mill:  A. Newton, S. Brown, W. Davis, A. Squire, C. Smith, F. Lamb, J. Wells, Jon. J. Combs, R. Lathrop, J. Harvey, A. Carr, and J. Upham. 

[Russell moved his family to Indiana in June 1837.]

Peggy could belong to any one of them.  Other possibilities include Ennis, Mourning, Lee, Higgins and Prince.

Military: Ambrose Maulding is an American Revolution patriot for his service in Tennessee and Kentucky along on the Red River and at Maulding's Station.  You can join either the Daughters or Sons of the American Revolution on his record as appropriate.

Records:
1775 - March 1. Ambrose, his brothers and father signed the 1775 Petition of the Inhabitants of Washington District in Tennessee requesting to be made a new county in North Carolina with full representation in government.  According to the petition the territory was obtained by treaty with the Cherokee and was located along the Holston River.  There were 1500 inhabitants at the time of the petition.
