Sat. we started to Evansville.  We got pass Carmi and Suellyn started having convulsions.  We turned around and took her to the Carmi Hospital.  They kept her there all night.

   None

Mrs. Braddy called today and said that she would not be here today because Dave [Braddy] was sick.  Mrs. Tyler will teach her room today.  My hogs Trixie sold yesterday brought $496.71.  They didn’t weigh as heavy as I thought they would about 193 ½ lbs each $19.75 a hundred.

   Debbie Trotter went home at 11:30 with the toothache.

This morning my sow was making a big bed of stuff in the woods getting ready to have pigs.  She had 8 pigs all doing well.

Dave Braddy called this morning and said that Mrs. Braddy had the flu and would be unable to come today.  Georgia Gaskill will teach in her place today.  We went to see Dad at the hospital yesterday and he was feeling pretty blue.

The nurse will be here today to give oral polio.  Leon and Larry Rich took Bernard and me to see Dad last night.  He is a lot better.

I went to Fairfield last night starting a course from Southern [Illinois University].  Today Aden is suppose to come up and play softball game with us.  We beat Aden today and we beat Sims tonight 10-8.

   It was announced last night that Jackie Kennedy is to marry a Greek within the next few days.

No school today. The well water pump was torn up this morning so we had to call school off today.  Herman & I worked trying to get it fixed.

We are to have our Halloween party today.  Last night I had the mid-term exam for the course at Fairfield.  I did not know much!  Pres. Johnson announced last night a halt of the bombings in North Viet Nam.

   Tonight is Board Meeting.  I have been sick with a cold all weekend.  I am not feeling very well yet.

   It was cold this morning.  It was 18°.

I think I am getting over my cold.  I think it was one of the Astronauts said if you doctor a cold you will get over it in a week if not you will recover in 7 days.  The Illinois State Museumobile is to be here today.  It looks like it will rain today.  My big horned white faced cow should have her calf any day now.

My white faced horned cow had a big bull calf yesterday in the rain.  It rained about all evening and into the night.  This morning it was about 35°.  I was worried about the calf but it was running & jumping this morning when I went to see about it.  Berry beat us Friday night. Tonight I have an administrators meeting to go to.

I have a meeting tonight at Center Street School starts 6 o’clock.  Trixie took a hog to be butchered today.  I stayed up tonight after I got back from the meeting & watched The Call of the Wild.

It did not snow. The sun is suppose to shine today.  Today I am 32 years old.  It seems impossible that I could be that old.  I guess I will have to start acting like it.  Mr. Albert Miller was out today.

Tonight is my last night of class at Fairfield.  I will probably flunk the final exam because I have not read the text nor the outside reading or have I studied my notes.

The weather is milder this morning about 30°.  I really had a rough day yesterday and a rough night last night with my cold.  I will probably have another rough day today the way I feel now.  Tonight is Board meeting night.

We got our pictures yesterday.  We had Board meeting last night.  It is sunny and nice today.  I feel a little better.  My cold is beginning to clear up I think.

I went and took some boys last night to see Wayne City High play Cisne in the Holiday tournament.  Wayne City won 50-49.  This morning Gen called and said Herman was sick so I have to drive his bus this morning.  I drove the bus for Herman tonight.  Gen and Tom came down and cleaned the school.

Today is the last day for the immunization series.  It is warmer.  It rained last night.  It is suppose to rain more and turn to snow today.  Bluford won the Wayne City tournament last night over Wayne City.  I did not get to go Trixie was mad.

It is warmer today 43° was the low last night.  It rained slightly and the wind blew hard.  Tonight is the night for our Christmas Program.  Things are going smoothly or I am so mixed up I do not realize what’s going on.  It is hard to realize that the Christmas program will be here within a few hours and tomorrow we will exchange gifts.

Leon Rich & Bob Barbee combined my corn yesterday.  It made about 20 bu. Per acre but they said they left a lot in the field because it was down and frozen to the ground.  A cold wave is coming today.  This morning when I got up it was 25° and when I left for school it was 20°.

Today is the last day of the 2nd term.  It is still raining and warm.  It has thawed out and is really muddy and bad.  Young big white faced cow had a bull calf last night.  It was not able to stand up this morning when I found it.  It was in the rain & mud in the open field.  48 days in the term.

Friday evening I got the cow and calf in the barn.  It was still raining and muddy.  I had quite a time. The calf’s front legs are deformed; twisted and turned under.  He is getting better.  Trixie took Suellyn to the doctor for a shot for a cold and I never went to the ball game.  We are suppose to get a new furnace for our room today.

Last night we played Knights Prairie in a lightweight tournament at Beaver Creek.  We beat them.  Trixie went to Carbondale today to take an ACT test.  It is awfully bad and foggy and rainy out today.

Last [night] Roland Burger and I attended a Schoolmaster Club meeting at Johnsonville.  This morning when I got to school the bus garage door was busted up.  It looked like as if had not been all the way up and when the bus backed out.  Trixie started to Rend Lake College today.

It rained last night and is raining now.  I have a hog dying.  I noticed it a few days ago with a large wound on its shoulder.  It looked as if it had been caught under something or the old sow had fought it.  It was down yesterday morning.  I thought it would be dead by now but it was still alive this morning.  I think it got lockjaw by the way it acted.

Jerolyn Gammon new student in the 6th grade entered today.  Zella Lathrop’s sister in Florida died Saturday and they drove down with her sister from Cahokia, Ill. [Narene Merritt died and Louise Martin was the sister in Cahokia].

The last day of the month!  It is snowing this morning and is suppose to accumulate up to 5 inches.  God save the Queen.  We got about 5 inches of snow.  We turned school out at 3 o’clock.

I took hay to the field in the truck Sunday morning and got it stuck.  It is still there.  Trixie brought me to school.  I am sick.  I had fever all night last night.  I hope I can make it through the day.  The snow is about all melted.

I like to have never made it through the day yesterday.  I went home as soon as school was out and went to bed and stayed there till 6 o’clock this morning.  I took my temperature at 4 o’clock last night it was 102.2.  This morning it was a 100.  I hope I can make it through this day of school.  I don’t feel very well.  I didn’t do my chores this morning.

Boys don’t loaf in restroom.  I got to feeling better at school yesterday.  I went home and did my chores, pulled the truck out, and got to feeling worse.  I felt pretty bad last night and I feel bad this morning.  I hope I can make it through the day.  We are suppose to take the students to Wayne City today to see the Senior Play at 1 o’clock.  I let the teachers take the students to the play and I went home and went to bed a while then I went to the doctor and got a shot.

Mrs. Gaskill is teaching my room today.  I spent a miserable night last night.  I called Georgia Gaskill this morning.  She is going to teach for me today.  I went back to the doctor today and got another shot.  I had Trixie call Mrs. Gaskill tonight and have her teach for me tomorrow.

Mrs. Gaskill is teaching my room today.  I feel some better but I still feel pretty bad.  The astronauts flew their lunar module today away from the command module and docked back again.

   Lea McCord got her finger caught in the door this morning and Herman took her home.

Trixie is taking my hogs to market today.  Barbara Chambliss saw me Saturday and jumped me about the Mr. Edmison telling the girls they would have to walk home from the volley ball game.  I didn’t know anything about it until then.  She said the next time she was coming to school and there would be big trouble.

My hogs were awfully big.  They averaged 243. The old sow weighed 550.  Lea Neff called me this morning and said that she would be an election judge.

Jennie Ruth was down this morning with Red Cross materials.  It was sunny and beautiful this morning.  I took the “Grapes of Wrath” home with me last night from Mr. Edmison’s room.  I don’t think elementary grade students should read it.

It was a beautiful day yesterday.  Trixie the children and I went walking after dinner.  This morning my angus heifer was bred by my angus steer.  Mr. Edmison’s bus won’t start this morning.  I called to tell Clyde & Herman to pick up his run.

I had an admin. meeting last night at Fairfield.  I had the time mixed up and went at 7 o’clock instead of 6:30 and they were eating supper when I walked in.  Assistant State Supt. Spoke.  He said that there was legislation to have one teacher per grade by July 1, 1970.

Mrs. Lane is not to be here today.  I guess Mary McCormick will cook in her place.  Yesterday Olan Bullock started bulldozing out the fence row between Murvin McCord and me.  This morning one of my cows was bulling and I have no bull.  It looks like rain today.

I have an appointment tonight at Goreville about a position in their school system.  I took the big young cow to Bernard’s last night to his Bull to get bred.  It rained last night.

I went to Goreville last night.  He said he had 3 or 4 good applicants.  Kenneth Draper died early this morning of cancer.  Several people in that area have died of cancer.  My Gu[e]rnsey cow had a heifer calf last night when I got home from school.  This is the first time she has had a heifer.

I will finish up on achievement test today.  Tonight we take the cafeteria worker to McLeansboro to a show.  Saturday night the Board has a meeting.  Supper and an interview with Lanny Smith.
