I couldn’t get the bus started this morning.  Glen Jackson pulled it down to Leon Riches but couldn’t get it started.  Mr. Wilson went down and I guess Leon pulled it and got it started.  This just not my day. Mr. Wilson couldn’t get it started either.  He finally gave up and came back to school.  When Clyde [Shelton] came in from his run he took mine.

Last night when I was driving the bus the first stop I made I killed it and couldn’t get it started again.  Leon Rich had to pull me. Then this morning when I was going up the hill by Cambell’s [sic] it got a short in it so I had to shut it off and then I couldn’t get it started again.  Lemma Hood pulled me and got it started.

School called off too much snow.  I started to school this morning but it was too bad and there was no school.  I had started down the Morre [sic] Road and met Glen Jackson and he told me I couldn’t get through by Leon Rich’s.

This is April fool’s day.  We will have our benefit basketball game tonight.  When I got to school this morning my door was locked and on the inside was a sign which said “April fool.”  I think Mr. Wilson did it, but I was too stubborn to let him get any pleasure from it.

I was worrying all night about getting fired.  I found out this morning I would get hired back.  We may get a raise. I was afraid to ask Mr. Wilson if I was rehired & afraid that I wouldn’t be.  My room is right by the kitchen.  I could hear Mr. Wilson talking with the cooks about the Board meeting and about their getting hired back.  But I just waited and worried, I thought if I wasn’t hired back he would eventually tell me.
