First day of school.  Enrollled 26 students.  Seventeen in the 6th grade and (9) nine in the fifth.  Raymond Bird wasn’t here today.  The children said he would probably be  here next Tuesday.  He cut his foot.

We played a basketball game last night with Merriam in the Geff Tournament.  We got slaughtered 27 to 80.

It came a snow last night.  It is predicated [sic] that we will have four inches of snow by tomorrow evening.  We turned out school a few minutes early today.  It is raining and freezing.  It looks like it is going to be bad tonight.  This would certainly be a terrible time for Trixie to decide to go to the hospital.

We have our Christmas play Thursday night 7:30.  We have a basketball game Friday night.  This is going to be a busy week.  We will exchange gifts Friday and give out treat.  We have to come back to school the following Monday.  This will be the last day of school before our Christmas vacation.  It is really cold today.  It got 0° last night.  Trixie took the car to town to get the radiator repaired.  The bus is here now.

Trixie took the car and went to the doctor today.  The generator on the car wasn’t working right this morning.  Trixie took it to Bob’s [Stevens] to get it fixed.  He put new brushes on it and charged $3.00.  The doctor told Trixie that she would have the baby before Saturday, probably Thursday Dec. 19.

I drove the bus for Herman Smith this morning.  He is sick.  Clyde is stuck with his bus.  There are eighteen students in our room this morning.  I am going to leave at 11 o’clock.  I have to get Suellyn from the hospital.

Test Social Studies  Rhonda stay in at recess if she doesn’t have her arithmetic.  I went to the doctor again last night and he said he thought it was my tooth causing me the trouble and that I ought to get it out as soon as possible.  I went back to the see the dentist and he changed by appointment to April 29th.  That is next Wednesday.

We took the basketball players to a show at Mt. Vernon Friday night.  I drug my car as I went across a railroad track and busted a hole in the gas tank.  Trixie took the car today to see if she could get it fixed.  I went to Carbondale Saturday and got registered.

May Day is Law Day.  Today two lawyers will come at 2:30 to speak to us about Law Day.  I sent five hogs to market this morning.  Hogs are awful cheap.  Yesterday they were $13.75.

Michael Bullock sick this morning.  She sat with her head down on her desk.  Mickey didn’t eat dinner today.  Those five hogs I sent Friday were too big.  They weighed 254 each.  Brought only $13.10.  Bernard came back home and took 9 more.  They weighed 206 and brought $14.00
