1888 Elkanah Janes
age 76 in Nebraska the son of Daniel & Hannah (Lathrop) Janes was born in
Richford, VT in 1811. He married 1) ?
and had a son Stephen in Indiana.
Elkanah married 2) Mary Corson in 1846 in Dearborn Co., IN and had three
children: Margaret, Albert and Charles.
The family moved to Clay Co., IL ca. 1865 to Kansas ca. 1875 and to
Nebraska ca. 1883. Elkanah is buried in
Greenwood Cemetery in York, Nebraska.
1899 Catherine
(Lathrop) Stine in Lawrence Co., IL age 50 the daughter of Levi & Louisa
(Draper) Lathrop was born in Indiana in 1849.
She married Jacob Stine in Lawrence Co., IL in 1876 and they had seven
children: Pearl, George, Fay, Corry, Perna, Harry and Bernard. She is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in
Lawrence Co., IL.- 1694
1963 Roscoe Lathrop
age 62 in Wayne Co., IL the son of Joel & Louisa (Dove) Lathrop. He was born in Wayne Co., IL in 1900 and
married Viola Brown in 1928. They had
three sons: Glen, Howard and
Mervin. He is buried in Thomason
Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.
1984 Bernard
Lathrop, 69, a
retired Wayne City farmer, died at 10:03 a.m. Friday at his home on Rt. 1,
Wayne City.
Mr.
Lathrop, who had lived around Wayne City most of his life, had been ill with a
malignancy and in poor health for quite some time.
Funeral
services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday (today) at the Richardson Funeral
Home, with Rev. Robert Shook officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr.
Lathrop was born in Wayne county June 28, 1914, the son of Joel and Lula (Dove)
Lathrop.
He
was married to the former Zella Merritt Aug. 26, 1956.
Mr.
Lathrop farmed south of Wayne City. He
was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and was a
member of the Disabled Veterans of America.
Surviving
are his widow, Zella; one son, George Lathrop, of Rt. 1, Wayne City; six
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Zelphia)
Shelton, of Wayne City; and Mrs. Howard (Ruby) Shelton, of Wayne City.

1990 Mervin C. Lathrop,
71, Rt. 2, Sumner, died Friday March 9, 1990 at 5:30 p.m. in Richland Memorial
Hospital in Olney, Ill.
Graveside
services were held at 10 a.m. today in Crest Haven Cemetery with the Rev. David
Reed presiding. Sivert-Macey Funeral
Home in Sumner are in charge of the arrangements.
Mr.
Lathrop was born Sept. 12, 1918 in Lawrence County, the son of Merit and Fern
(Petty) Lathrop. He married Verna Piper
Jan. 18, 1952 and she survives. He was a
rural mail carrier for 30 years. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving
in addition to his wife, is a son, Craig Lathrop of Indianapolis, Ind.; two
sisters, Evelyn Prouty of Poulsbo, Wash. and Katherine Mills of Firestone,
Colo.; his mother of Sumner and two grandchildren.
2011 Gary Whitlow, 65, of Robinson, a
native of Fairfield, died Wednesday, Mar. 9, 2011 in Lima, Ohio.
He
worked maintenance for Briggs Pottery for 33 years until its closing and was a
millright for Joule Industrial Contractors.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwine Funeral Home in
Robinson. Burial will be at the Mt.
Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Saturday.
Mr.
Whitlow was born in Fairfield on Dec. 21, 1945, the son of Chester and Maedell
Johnson Whitlow. He was raised in
Fairfield.
He
was married to Carolyn Fitts on June 22, 1968 and she survives.
Mr.
Whitlow served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War in the Philippines
as a jet mechanic. He was a member of
the Robinson Masonic Lodge and the Danville Masonic Rite. He was also a former member of the Robinson
Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving
are his widow; his daughter Penny (Doug) Week of Annapolis; a son Jeffrey
(Pamela) of Princeton, Ind.; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren;
a sister Janice (Rodney ) Roycroft of West Blockton, Ala.; several nieces and
nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Joe Whitlow and a
great-grandson.
Memorials
may be made to the Riley’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
