1721 - Spotsylvania County created from Essex and parts of King & Queen and King William

1731 - Prince William County created from the northwest portions of Stafford & King George

1733 - Privy Council ordered a commission to determine the actual boundaries set forth in the 1688 charter. Josiah Dickinson in The Fairfax Proprietary explained:

The findings of the commissioners confirmed Lord Fairfax's claim to the land in the fork of Rappahannock, now Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock counties, and to the land lying between the head spring of the Rapidan and the head spring of the Potomac Rivers.  In other words, it would be better understood to say that the entire boundary was from the mouth of Rappahannock River to the head spring of the Rapidan branch, at the top of the Blue Ridge between Madison and Green Counties, thence a straight line seventy-six and one-half miles to the head spring of Potomac Rier, now the Southwest corner of Maryland, and thence down the Potomac River to the Chesapeake Bay and with the Bay to the beginning.

1734 - Orange County created by the General Assembly, becoming effective January 1, 1735.

1738 - Orange County citizens living west of the Blue Ridge petitioned for county.

1743 - Frederick County formed and first court held.

1745 - Augusta County formed and first court held.

Records:

The more I look at these records, the more I think they are about at least two people.  I'm not sure why Henry would go to York Co., Pennsylvania and then back to Baltimore, when most of his family was moving farther west into Ohio.

Mary Catherine Baughman

Born: 1771 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland
Died: ca. 1852 in Muskingum County, Ohio

Married: Philip Porter, July 28, 1793, First Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD

Records:

1790 - two Henry Baughman families in Baltimore Co, Maryland that are possibilities.

1800 - not found on census.

1810 - Caroline Co., MD - a Philip Porter family that could be Catherine, Philip and five children ages 1 - 15 and five slaves. 

1816 - Catherine named in Philip's will

1817-1818 - Catherine acting as executor of Philip's estate.

1820 - not found on census.  She does not appear to be living with any of her children.

In Memoriam August 30th

1648 Anne (Lawrence) Peck buried in St. Andrew’s churchyard, Hingham, England.  She was the wife of Rev. Robert Peck and they had eight children:   Robert, Thomas, Joseph, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Samuel, Daniel and Anne.  Robert and Anne came to Hingham, MA in 1638 to flee persecution in England.  Once Oliver Cromwell came to power in England they went back to their home in England.  Several of their children remained in Massachusetts.

1823 Mary Clark age 8 the daughter of Samuel & Phebe (Sayre) Clark.

1875 John Baughman son of Johann Baughman age 88. 

In Memoriam February 22nd

1753 Martha (Morley) Loomis the wife of William Loomis.  She was born in 1682 and died in Westfield, MA at age 71 and was buried in the Westfield Old Burying Ground.

Baughman Park

This is one of the many sculptures in Baughman Memorial Park in Muskingum County, Ohio carved by long lost cousin Brice Baughman around the turn of the century (20th century that is).  New information found on Baughman family, still working on finding and verifying information with sources.

Generation 1. Johannes Christian Baughman b. 1736 Germany, died before June 1779 Maryland.

Generation 2. Anthony Heinrick (Henry) Baughman b. 1750, Germany, married Maria Barbara (?) 1775 in Anne Arundel County, MD.  Henry died 18322 in Baltimore.  Was Henry married to someone else before Maria?  There are nine children attributed to them.

Generation 3. Mary Catherine b. 1771(?) is date correct?  Was she Maria's daughter?  Mary Catherine married Philip Porter in 1793 in Baltimore and they moved to Muskingum Co., OH where they had three children.  Philip died in 1816 and Mary Catherine ca. 1852.  

I came across the information on Johannes two days ago.  Very exciting.  There is also interesting research problem to be pursued.  Four of Henry's children married Porters. Were the Porters siblings, cousins, not related?

• Mary Catherine Baughman married Philip Porter 7/28/1793
• Henry Baughman married Ann Elizabeth Porter 8/16/1816
• Mary Baughman married Thomas Porter 6/25/1822

Were the Baughman's Catholic?  They lived in Maryland a Catholic colony/state.  If so, it would explain two daughters (and perhaps more) named Mary.  My roommate in college was Catholic one of about 9 children.  Every girl's first name was Mary and they went by their middle names.  

Back to Baughman Memorial Park.  Noah Baughman's property was so stony he opened a quarry.  His son Daniel Brice used the quarry as his art studio.  Most of the sculptures are historical figures such as Lincoln and Garfield.  It's very interesting.

1655 Mary Bushnell daughter of Richard & Mary (Marvin) Bushnell in Hartford, CT.  She married Sgt. Thomas Leffingwell 1672 in Norwich, CT and died 1723 in Norwich, CT.
