In Memoriam - December 23rd



1659 Rev. Edward Norris age 75 in Salem, MA.  He was born in 1584 and married Elinor (--?--).  They had at least one son Edward.



1940 Elizabeth Erkman in Los Angeles, CA age 69.  The daughter of Jacob & Eva (Bechtold) Erkman she was born in Illinois in 1871.  Lizzie was a dressmaker and worked in Mt. Vernon, IN before moving to California.  She never married and died after being hit by a street car.  Her estate was valued at $3169. 



1965 Irwin Roe husband of Sarah Robertson.



2007 Freda (Jordan) Porter daughter of Ernest & Sophia (Erkman) Jordan in Vincennes, IN, age 97.  She was born in White Co., IL in 1910.  Freda married Lyman Porter in 1931 and they had no children.  She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, IN.

In Memoriam May nd

1706 Henry Norris in Elizabeth, NJ age 61.  Born ca. 1645 in England he was the son of Edward & Dorothy Norris.  Henry married Abigail Stratton and they had at least one child Hannah.  The family immigrated to the U.S. before 1670.  He left a will:
Henry Norris of Elizabeth Town, yeoman, dated Mar. 26, 1705.  Children: Henry, Abigail wife of Daniel Sharp of Woodbridge, Hannah Clarke, Ester Crane, Samuel, Ruth, Sarah, Margaret, (His wife Abigail Stratton, daughter of John, of Easthampton) Real and personal estate.  Executors:  son Samuel and daughters Ruth and Sarah.  Witnesses:  Isack and Samuel Whitehead, Benj. Spining.  Codicil of May 4, 1706, appoints Benj. Price, Jr., and Andrew Hampton of Elizabethtown as overseers.  Witnesses:  Samuel Whitehead, Daniel Sate.  Proved and Ruth Morris sworn in as executrix, May 21, 1706.

In Memoriam March 26th


1653 Joan (Purchase) Capen born ca. 1578 in England.  She married Bernard Capen in 1596 and they had six children: Elizabeth, Ruth, Susanna, Dorothy, John and Honor.  The family immigrated to Dorchester, MA in 1632.

1670 Alice (Carpenter) Southworth Bradford in Plymouth, MA age 80 born ca. 1590 in Wrentham, England the daughter of Alexander Carpenter.  She married Edward Southworth in 1613 and they had two sons Constant and Thomas.  After Edward’s death Alice immigrated to Plymouth, MA where she married Gov. William Bradford in 1623 and they had three children: William, Mercy and Joseph.  She is buried in Plymouth, MA.
