3. Martha Lingan md. Josiah Wilson, a gentleman, who died in Prince Georges Co., MD b/t 11 Nov & 5 Dec. 1717. His will named his wife Martha, five sons and 1 daughter. Sons Josiah & Lingan were named executors and the first division was to occur when Lingan reached 16.  Josiah was the son of James.  See Shearer, Ralph & Star Wilson Rowland. 4. Katherine Lingan md. 1) ca. 1690 Henry Boteler (brother of Edward above), b. say 1667 Calvert Co., MD, d. Prince Georges Co., MD 1713. 2) by 1722 Richard Normandsell.  Richard died by 1729. Katherine died by November Court 1725.

Married: unknown by ca. 1775 possibly in Scotland or Virginia

Immigration: could have been an immigrant from Scotland

Lived: in Virginia long enough to have had a child

Rowland Powell b. ca. 1750, d. 1838, bur. Troy Street Cemetery, Tombstone (old) RP 37. Tombstone (new) Rowland Powell died 1838, Revolutionary War Veteran and his wife Mary Janes 1753-1813.  Military Record: Served in Capt. Joshua Hazen's Company, Col. Wood's Regt., which marched to the alarm at Brookfield, Oct. 1780.

Every genealogist who has worked on the Henckel / Hinkel / Hinkle line comes to the conclusion that Catherine was the daughter of Anthony 3rd. who came from Pennsylvania and located on Abbott's Creek in Rowan County North Carolina where he was still living as late as 1798 when he paid tax on 3 acres of land. This three acres was sold by his son Wendel or Windle of Kentucky in 1815.

On a torn sheet of the Benjamin Eaton family bible is written the record that Catherine Hinkel, wife of John Fox was born . . . the 5, 1767. The record goes on to record that "John Fox and Catherine Hinkel were married October the 30th, 1783 and the births of ten children are given.

The third child, Amelia, married Benjamin Eaton and the letter quoted below was written by her great granddaughter Mrs. Bessie Cartner Derrick from Robinson, Kansas in 1935.

Speaking of Catherine Hinkel Fox, she says:

My mother told me she would not allow her children to speak English to her.

After the Revolution 1789, David Stout, with Nathaniel Hixson and three sons of Joab Houghton and their Uncle Asa Runyon, with their families went to Mason County, Ky., and they were all useful and good citizens, in the new country. David Stout died December 27th, 1827.

The Maysville Eagle of Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1828 records the following:

Died - Thursday last at the home of Mr. Mahlon Williamson at Taylor's Mills in Mason County, Ky., Mr. David Stout, a Soldier of the Revolution in the 95th year of his age.

Colonial Counties of South Carolina -This section is added for the benefit of people who research in the colonial period of South Carolina. A man who is listed in Berekley County may be found in Union or Orangeburg while a man in Colleton County may be found in Edgefield.

South Carolina had four colonial counties of Granville, Berkeley, Colleton and Craven. These counties at first extended fifty miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean.  When settlements began further inland, the counties were extended to the North Carolina line. These counties do not have any of hte functions of the modern counties. Charleston was the county seat of all four counties. From 1670 to 1782-85 all court records, will, administrations and deeds were recorded in Charleston and are still to be found there in the Charleston County Court House.

1773 Absalom Hunt the son of John & Esther (Harper) Hunt in Shenandoah Co., VA.  He died in Bath Co., KY in 1841.  Absalom is buried in Crain Cemetery in Fleming Co., KY.

1842 Emily Rose in Lawrence Co., OH the daughter of Lewis & Margaret (Lambert) Rose.  She died in 1920 in Lawrence Co. OH and is buried in Aid Cemetery there. 

1935 Dorothy Withrow the daughter of Elmer & Alice (Martindale) Withrow in Wright City, MO.
