Occupation: probably a farmer, no documents specifically mention an occupation

Migration: 
1775-1777 lived in Stratford, CT 
1778-1795 lived in Hartford, VT
ca. 1797 moved to Richford, VT 
1800 living in Montgomery, VT 
1810 the family had moved back to Richford, nine miles north of Montgomery.


Military Service: American Revolution
Rowland appears on the payroll of  Capt. Joshua Hazon's Company in Col. Eben Wood's Regiment which was called out to march to Brookfield in the "Larm, Oct. 1780."  Rowland is listed with his father and brothers Calvin and Luther.  Capt. Stephen Tilden, Josiah Tilden and a Stephen Tilden are also listed who would be relatives through Rowland's grandmother Mary Tilden.
The payroll lists name, days in service, wages due, travel from home, traveling wages and whole amount.  All of this is in pounds, shillings and pence.  With the exception of Captain Stephen Tilden  who received a total 17s, 6d, the information is the same:
 3 days in service, 4s, 2d, 40 miles, 13s, 4d, total 17s, 4d
There is a Daughters of the American Revolution plaque on a large rock outside the Franklin County Courthouse listing Rowland Powell among others.

1820 Vermont, Richford - 69 a Rowland Powell household with 2 males over 45.  No idea who the other person is. 

1830 - not found on census

1838 - no will or probate found in Franklin Co., Vermont
