1738 - Oct. 25 - Lancaster County, PA - A Martin Groff entered 100 acres. - Is this our Martin Grove? I'm not sure it is.
By the Proprietaries. Whereas Martin Groff ___ of the County of Lancaster has requested that we would grant him to take up one hundred acres of land Situate at -------------? adjoining Adam Brand.
In the said County of Lancaster for which He agrees to pay to our use the Sum of Fifteen Pounds Ten Shillings current Money of this Province for the said one Hundred Acres, and the yearly Quit-rent of one Half-penny Sterling for every Acre thereof; These are therefore to authorize and require thee to survey or cause to be survey'd unto the said Martin Groff at the Place aforesaid, according to the Method of Townships appointed, the said Quantity of 100 Acres, if not already survey'd or appropriated, and make Return thereof into the Secretary's Office, in order for further Confirmation; for which this shall be they sufficient Warran; which Survey, in Case the said Martin Groff fulfil the above Agreement within Six Months from the Date hereof, shall be valid, otherwise void. Given under my hand and the lesser Seal of our Province, at Philadelphia, this 25th Day of October Anno Dom. 1738.

1761, Dec. 16 - Philadelphia County, PA - Margaret Grove received Administration Bond for Martin's estate:

43 Adm. Bond - Margaret Grove et al on the Estate late of Martin Grove dec'd. - Date 16th Decm'r: 1761 - Registered in Book G fol. 296
Know all Men by these Presents, That we Margaret Grove, widow of Martin Grove late of German Town Township Mason dec'd and John Hinkle of the same place, blacksmith are held and firmly bound unto William Plumsted, Esq; Register General for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the Province of Pennsylvania, in the Sum of Fifty Pounds lawful Money of the said Province to be paid to the said Register General, his certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators or Assigns, to the which Payment well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators jointly and severally, for and in the whole, firmly by these Presents. Sealed with our Seals Dated the 16th Day of December in the Year of our Lord, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty-One.
The Condition of this Obligation, is such, That if the above bound Margaret Grove Administrix of all and singular the Goods, Chattles, Rights and Credits which were of the said Martin Grove deceased, do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattles, Rights and Credits, which were of the sd. Martin Grove deceased, which have or shall come to the Hands, Possession or Knowledge of the said Margaret Grove or into the Hands, Possession or Knowledge of any orther Person or Persons for her and the same so made, do Exhibit or cause to be Exhibited into the Rigister Generals Office at Philadelphia at or before the 16th Day of January next. And the same Goods, Chattles, Rights and Credits, which were of the said Deceased at the Time of his Death, or which at any Time hereafter shall come to the Hands or Possession of the said Margaret Grove or of any other Person or Persons for her do well and truly Administer according to Law, and farther do make or cause to be made a true and just Accompt, Calculation or Reckoning of the said Administration at or before the 17th Day of December Anno 1762. And all the Rest and Residue of the said Goods, Chattles, Rights and Credits which shall be found remaining upon the said Administrix ccompt, the same being first Examined, and allowed of by the Orphans Court of the County of Philadelphia, shall deliver and pay to such Persons or Persons respectively as the said Court by it's Decree or Sentence shall Limit and appoint: And if it shall hereafter Appear that any last Will and Testament was made by the said Decedent and the Executor or Executors therein named, do Exhibit the same into the same Office making request to have it allowed and approved of accordingly, if the said Margaret Grove being thereunto required do render and deliver up the said Letters of Administration, Approbation of such Testament being first had and made in the said Office. Then this Obligation to be void or else to be and remain in full Force and Virtue.
