1737 - Oct. 6 - St. Paul's Parish, King George Co., VA - marriage record states that Bushrod was of Brunswick Parish and Anne Stribling of "this" parish meaning St. Paul's Parish. The parish was in Stafford County at the time.  Because of county boundary changes it is now located in King George County.

1765 - Apr. 22 - Culpeper County, VA - Anne is listed as Nanny in a deed of land from Bushrod Doggett to William Morgan.

1770 - Fauquier Co., VA - the family was living here as Bushrod paid taxes here.

Married: Anne Stribling October 6, 1737, Saint Paul's Parish, Stafford Co., VA.  Bushrod is said to have been of Brunswick Parish at the time of the marriage. Sometimes the marriage is listed as having been in King George County which is where the parish is now located. Both are correct.

Parish / County Formation:

The earliest counties in a colony / state tend to be quite large and can be an entire state.  Kentucky was created as Kentucky County, VA and then slowly subdivided as the population increased and eventually it gained commonwealth status on its own in 1792. The same process happened in Virginia where counties were subdivided into Church of England / Anglican parishes.  The Anglican church was the "state church" of Virginia.  These parishes were also subdivided and had boundary changes as new counties were formed that split them or "moved them" into a new county. There is speculation that she was an Armistead or a Norman.  It is also possible that she was a Presley.  

There was a William Presly living in Northumberland County, Virginia between 1652 and 1655. He was a member of the county court and appeared in many lawsuits, served on juries and was the church warden for Chinekahan quarter, aka Chickacoan. 

She may have been a Saunders:

The Gurley/Cagle Connection - A second-hand report (dating back to an unidentified Cagle researcher in 1931) has provided the following item, which seems to relate to the Cagles of Montgomery County:

John Gurley married Mary Cagle in North Carolina. His orphan children came to Morgan Co., Alabama about 1825, with their uncle John Cagle. They were Jessie, 1823-1906, married Elizabeth Lowery of Bulox Creek, York Co., SC; Polly married John Brisco; John, d. Hartselle, Alabama, Tillman, the oldest son, stayed in North Carolina.

Regarding the location of John Cagle and his nephews, the Gurley orphans, the writer has been unable to locate any records on them in early Morgan Co., Alabama, nor do they seem to appear in the 1830 Alabama census. However, looking into later Alabama records, it is noteworthy that the Gurleys seem to be living in Marshall Co. (adjoining Morgan Co.) at the time of the 1850 census; the family seems to consist of three teenagers, each of whom was living in a separate household, as though they were orphans;

John Morehead, who bought the land of Henry Cafly on June 8, 1726, in that part of King George County which four years later, 1730 became Prince William County, covering the great square between the Blue Ridge and the Potomac opposite the present site of Washington, has long been the earliest positively recorded known member of his family.  He was born some time before 1700, probably as early as 1681 or 1682, and his wife's name was Mary. Martha Stuart.  Isaac was a soldier and moved to Kentucky then on to Indiana. - Isaiah Slavens in DAR b. 6/12/1752 Rockingham Co., VA, md. Martha /Patsy Stuart md. 2) Barbara Perkee. He was a Revolutionary War soldier, fought in the battles of Hot Water Springs, Jamestown. He was in the company of Captain KinCade of Colonel Moffet, Captain Thomas Hecklin, Company of Col. Simpson Mathias, Virginia Regiment, 1780.  Isaiah applied for a pension on April 26, 1833, died 1840.  Said to have had 17 children.

Gen. Jacob Lots/Louts/Lotts, the third child of Jonas Lotz was born 21 Dec. 1760 in Stoverstown (now Strausburg), Virginia, in that part of Frederick County that became Shenandoah County in 1772.  He died 12 Oct. 1839 in Wilkesville Township, in that part of Gallia County [Ohio] that became Vinton County in 1850. He served in the American Revolution.  Soon after Jacob was released from service, he was married to Sarah Wolf/Wolfe, otherwise known as Sarey.  Sarah's mother, Mari (sic) posted marriage bonds for Sarey Wolf to Jacob Loots (sic) on 22 Dec. 1782 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.

Sarah was born 17 Oct. 1761 in Frederick Co., VA. Some records say she was born in Staunton, VA. She died 6 Oct. 1837 in Wilkesville Twp.

Sarah's mother, Maria Gertrude (Brumback) Nisewanger Wolf otherwise known as the widow, Mary Wolf, was the daughter of Melchior & Mary Elizabeth (Fishback) Brumback of Prince William Co., VA. Melchior emigrated from
