Joan (Musgrave) Braddock, 88, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at McLeansboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in McLeansboro, IL.
Joan was born on March 27, 1935 in Aden, IL to Marshall & Florene (McCormick) Musgrave. On September 23, 1950 she married Irvin "Fat" Braddock, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1986.
Joan was a housewife and worked various times as a nurse's aide, cook, worked at the picture fram factory, and assisted her husband "Fat" at the Standard station in Wayne City from 1958-1963, and then for the Standard Oil bulk oil business from 1963-1983. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, ceramics, crafs and country dancing. She loved to laugh and play card games. She was a Christian, and was saved at Ellis Mound Baptist Church, and baptized as a teenager.
She was a loving mother to her surviving son Dale (Brenda) Braddock, son Gale Braddock, and daughter Julie (Scott) Dixon. She is also survived by 5 granddaughters: Toni (Zack) Miller, Kim (Terry) Wellen, Bethany Braddock (and significant other Dale Sledge), Breanne Braddock; and Madyson Dixon; 2 step-grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren: Zeb Miller, Trenton Miller, Zadie Miller, Caleb Wilderman, Val Bergman, Hannah Smith, and Asa Smith; 2 step-great grandchildren: Jeffrey Sledge and Holly Karcher; 2 step-great great grandchilren and long-time friend Martin Tegeler.
She was preced in death by her husband "Fat" Braddock, a grandson Branden Lee Braddock who passed away in 2002, and her sister Mary Williams, who she was very close to, who passed away on September 21, 2002.
A graveside memorial service for Joan (Musgrave) Braddock will be held at 10:00 am. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL with Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Those attending are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be made to the Thomason Cemtery Fund or the McLeansobor Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
