Gerold Ray Legg, 80, of Sims passed away at 6:48 pm on January 4, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL. He was born in Wayne County on June 7, 1940 to Elmer & Wilma (Williams) Legg. Gerold was a well-known welder and farmer for many years of Legg Welding and Legg Farms and was also a member of Sims Missionary Baptist Church.

Gerold is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia (Robertson) Legg of Sims; son - Lanny (Stacey) Legg, twin daughters - Lana (Todd) Burner and Lisa L. Scarbrough all of Sims; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters - Joan (Seth) Holmes of Fairfield, Joyce Day of Mt. Carmel, Kay (Larry) White, and Rhonda (Charles) Vanway both of Sims; sisters-in-law Lelah Garrison and Bev Robertson both of Sims; brothers-in-law Bill (Doris) Robertson and Harold (Alene) Robertson both of Fairfield.

Gerold was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law and numerous brother and sisters-in-law.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday January 12, 2021 at Pin Oak Cemetery. There will be no visitation, family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
