1812 - Lincoln Co., KY - Nicholas Hocker's will mentions his wife:
2nd I leave to my beloved wife Sarah Hocker during her life two thirds of the plantation where on I now reside together with three negroes namely Frank, William, James also the whole of my stock and crop, house hold furniture and farming utensils that may be on my plantation at my decease and third of my stock of hogs excepted and at her my wife's death to be disposed of as shall be expressed and directed in this my last will.
Land given to son Phillip was given with "the special reservation that my son Alford Hocker shall enjoy and possess one third of the above land given my son Phillip Hocker during the life of my wife Sarah Hocker and no longer at which time the whole of the above land to be completely vested in my son Phillip Hocker and his heirs forever."
1824 - Aug. - Montgomery Co., MD - Sarah sold property she had inherited from her father Weaver Barnes, Liber I, folio 358:
Sarah Hocker, widow of Nicholas Hocker, of the state of Kentucky, Lincoln County, deed to Henry Gaither: "Whereas, Weaver Barnes, the father of Sarah Hocker, by his last will and testament, dated 1781, did give and bequeath to his son, Thomas Barnes, 150 acres, called "Inspection", and further said that if said son died, the land to be sold at public vendure, and money from sale divided among all his children then living, said will or record in Register of Wills, of Montgomery County, died 1821 without being married, leaving Joseph Barnes and Sarah Hocker his surviving brother and sister.
