1911 Bezelria Miles Parks
was born Sep. 5th, 1820 in Muskingum Co., Ohio.
In 1848 on June 5 at the age of 21 he was united in marriage to Miss
Maranda Edwards. A few months after
their marriage they moved to Bartholomew County, Indiana, where they resided
for twelve years. In the year of 1853
they moved to Marion County, Ill. In the
fall of 1875 they made their third move this time to Ottawa County, Kansas. For
in the year 1895, June 14th the wife of his youth, and who had been his
companion for fifty-four years passed away to her heavenly reward. She was a good and kind wife and a loveable
mother. Brother and Sister Parks were
parants of eight children, four boys and four girls, seven of whom still
live. One daughter passed away some
years ago.
Also to this union there now
lives thirty-one grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. Two sisters also survive him, Mrs. Leannah
gale of Minneapolis and Mrs. Ruth Matterly of Carrolton, Mo., and a brother,
David Parks of Iola, Ill. Fourteen years
ago Brother Parks was united in his second marriage to Mrs. Mary Minteer. They lived together very happily for six
years. After her death his sister Mrs. Mary Ellen Edwards, lived with him until
three years ago when she died, and since that time brother Parks has visited
his children who treated him kindly and desired that he might make his
permanent home with them, but he liked best the old homestead and was there
most of the time. His death occured at
his daughters, Mrs. Molly Jones, where he had been in poor health for four
weeks. He passed peacefully away to the
eternal on Monday April 10, 1911 at 6:10 p.m.
His mind was clear and calm until within five minutes of his departure. Had he lived until Sept. 5, he would have
reached his 91st birthday.
1943 Virginia
(Pearce) Runyon age 88 daughter of John & Nancy (Ellsberry) Pearce was born
in Kentucky in 1855. She married William
Runyon in 1877 and they had at least three children: unnamed infant, John and
Maud. According to the 1940 census
Jennie attended college, possibly a female seminary in the Oldham County
area. She died in Fisherville, KY and
is buried in Floydsburg cemetery in Crestwood, KY.
