In Memoriam April 2nd

1664 William Hodges in Massachusetts.  He was born in England and immigrated ca. 1633.  He was married to Mary Andrews and they had at least one son, Henry.  William lived in Taunton, MA.

1870 James Johnson age 82 the son of Caspar & Deborah (Admason) Johnson in Pennsylvania.  He was born in Pennsylvania in 1787 and married Anna Strawn.  He is buried in the Chestnut Hill Church Cemetery in Coopersburg, PA.


1994 Vera (Robertson) Baker the daughter of Leonard & Jennie (Beattie) Robertson, aged 76.  She was born in Illinois in 1917 and married Alfred Baker in 1936.Vera is buried in Pin Oak Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.


1995 Gaynell (Oliver) Romanas in Decatur, IL aged 51.  The daughter of Samuel & Stella (Sapyta) Oliver she was born in East Chicago in 1943.  Gaynell married William Romanas Jr. in 1965 and they had two children: Gordon & Nicole. 

1996 Mrs. Mabel Robertson, 77, of Sims, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 2, 1996, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

She had been in declining health with diabetes and other complications and had been hospitalized since January.

Mrs. Robertson was a retired restaurant worker in the Wayne City area.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday from the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City, with Rev. Richard McCormick officiating.  Interment will be in Thomason Cemetery, Wayne City.  Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the Richardson Funeral Home.  A Rebekah service is set for 7 p.m.

She was born in Wayne County Dec. 14, 1918, the daughter of Morton and Mary Ann Robertson Butler.

On June 21, 1942, she was married to Paul Robertson.

Mrs. Robertson was of the Protestant faith and a member of the Sims Rebekah Lodge.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one infant daughter, two sisters, one brother and one granddaughter. 

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Barbara) Boone, of Fairfield; one son, Paul Robertson, of Hammond, Ill.; two grandchildren; and one brother, James Butler of Murray, Ky.
