In Memoriam April 14th

1721 Hannah (Lathrop) Perkins age 44 in Norwich, CT.  She was born there in 1677 the daughter of Samuel & Hannah (Adgate) Lathrop and married Jabez Perkins in 1698.  They had seven children: Mary, Jabez, Hannah, Elizabeth, Jacob, Lucy and Judith.

1735 John Gallop son of Capt. John & Hannah (Lake) Gallop died in 1735 at age 89.  He was born in Massachusetts in 1646 and married Elizabeth Harris in 1675.  He served as a representative to the colonial court in 1685 and again from 1696 to 1698.  John and Elizabeth had eight children:  John, Thomas, Martha, Samuel, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, William and Benjamin. 

1888 Louisa (Hoffman) Erkmann age 50 was born in Wurttemberg, Germany in 1837.  She married 1) Jacob Erkmann in White Co., IL ca. 1858 and had four children: Katherine, Frederick, Martin and Magdalena.  After Jacob’s death she married 2) Christian Dexrhimer in 1876. 

1904 Richard Colclasure son of Jacob & Mary (Trinkle) Colclasure born 1830  in Illinois, he died at age 74 in Clay Co., IL.  Richard married 1) Lucinda Prather in 1852 and they had three children: Julia, Sarah & Margratet.  After Lucinda’s death he married 2) Eliza Sefton in 1862 and they had two children: Edward and Lottie.  He is buried in Oak Mound Cemetery in Clay Co., IL.


1918 William Dove age 79 in Wayne Co., IL..  He was the son of John and Jane (Beasley) Dove born in Casey Co., KY in 1838.  He married 1) Martha Rainwater in 1856 in Kentucky and they had five children: Maureen, Martha, Miles, Mary and Emily.  William enlisted  in the 3rd Kentucky Infantry during the Civil War and then deserted to move his family to Indiana.  Once they were settled William went on to Minnesota where he enlisted I the 1st Regiment of Heavy Artillery.  After the war he returned to Indiana where he married 2) Nancy Hunt in 1869 in Indiana and they six children: Martha, Ollie, Louisa, John, William and Nettie.  Nancy died between 1888 and 1891 in Wayne Co., IL.  William married  3) Alice Goss in 1891 in Wayne Co., IL and they had three children: Joe and Gussie.  Alice was a widow and had a daughter Nettie Jones.  William had a farm on the Wayne Co. / Jefferson Co. line.  He is buried in nearby Salem /Mateer Cemetery in Wayne Co.

1984 Lawrence Earl Fitzgerald, 81 of Farina passed away at 1:25 a.m. Saturday April 14, 1984, in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born in Louisville, a son of Madison Lafayette and Lillian Mae (Halberstadt) Fitzgerald.  He was a former owner of Fitzgerald Grocery Store in Aurora and a retired supervisor for the Illinois Department of Transportation.  He married Lavina Land in 1922.  She passed away in 1925.  He married Vaudeth Pemberton in 1929.  He married Alma Bostic Fitzgerald in 1964. 
Surviving are his wife; son, Harold of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Sommers and Karen Remy, both of Aurora; brother, Glenn of Farina; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 
A son, a daughter, a brother, three sisters and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
The funeral was held Monday, April 16th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Rankin Farina Chapel with Rev. Larry Collins officiating.  Burial was in the Iola Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
1995 John Erkman son of Tobias & Emma (?) Erkman age 76 in Belleville, IL.  He was born in 1919 and married Marie Stak.  They had three children: Dot, Irene and John.  John is buried in Caseyville Cemetery in Caseyville, IL.
