In Memoriam March 26th


1653 Joan (Purchase) Capen born ca. 1578 in England.  She married Bernard Capen in 1596 and they had six children: Elizabeth, Ruth, Susanna, Dorothy, John and Honor.  The family immigrated to Dorchester, MA in 1632.

1670 Alice (Carpenter) Southworth Bradford in Plymouth, MA age 80 born ca. 1590 in Wrentham, England the daughter of Alexander Carpenter.  She married Edward Southworth in 1613 and they had two sons Constant and Thomas.  After Edward’s death Alice immigrated to Plymouth, MA where she married Gov. William Bradford in 1623 and they had three children: William, Mercy and Joseph.  She is buried in Plymouth, MA.

1676 Thomas Little son of Thomas & Ann (Warren) Little

1705 Henry Norris of Elizabeth Town, New Jersey, yeoman wrote his will on Mar. 26, 1705.  Children: Henry, Abigail wife of Daniel Sharp of Woodbridge, Hannah Clarke, Ester Crane, Samuel, Ruth, Sarah, Margaret, (His wife Abigail Stratton, daughter of John, of Easthampton) Executors:  son Samuel and daughters Ruth and Sarah.  Witnesses:  Isack and Samuel Whitehead, Benj. Spining.  Codicil of May 4, 1706, appoints Benj. Price, Jr., and Andrew Hampton of Elizabethtown as overseers.  Witnesses:  Samuel Whitehead, Daniel Sate.  Proved and Ruth Morris sworn in as executrix, May 21, 1706.

1816 In the Name of God Amen, I Philip Porter of Muskingum County and State of Ohio Being Weak in Body but sound in mind and memory make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit:  I give and devise unto my son Henry Porter the whole of the northwest quarter of Section No. eight in township No. two and Range No. eight to him his heirs and assigns for ever.  I further give and devise untio my daughter Elizabeth Woodard the whole of the south east quarter of section no. seven in township two and range eight to her and her heirs and assigns for ever.  I also give and devise unto my daughter Mary Porter the part which I now own of the North east Quarter of section No. seven of township two and range eight Also the East half of Lot No. thirty-seven in Quarter No,. one in township No. two in Range No. eight to her and her heirs and assigns forever.  I also desire that my daughter Mary should have the use of one half the cleared land in Elizabeth's part for the term of ten years.  I also desire that my beloved wife Catherine Porter shall have the ___ half of the third part of each child's part during her natural life and as for my personal property I give and bequeath it in manner and form following to wit:  first I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary one white cow and calf and one black cow with a white stripe along her back and one ewe and two lambs and one bed and bedding and one Dozen pewter plates and one pewter dish and after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid I give and bequeath the rest residue and remainder of my property of what kind and nature s____ it be unto my beloved wife Catharine and my son Henry.  I hereby ordain and appoint my beloved wife Catherine sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all will heretofore by me made ratifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused my seal to be affixed this 26th day of March one thousand eight hundred and sixteen.

1849 Abram Hardin in Clay Co., IL age 29 the son of John & Mary (Colclasure) Hardin was born in 1820.  He married Elizabeth Sherwood in Washington Co., IN in 1842.

1984 Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Musteen, 82, of the High Rise Apartments, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Home at Wayne City, with Bro. Carroll Kakac officiating. Burial was in Thomason Cemetery there.
Mrs. Musteen died early Monday morning at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, following a stroke.
She is the great-aunt of Mrs. Bil l(Trixie) Lathrop and sister-in-law of Mrs. Ethel Gurley both of Wayne City.
Mrs. Musteen was born in Wayne county Apr. 12, 1901, the daughter of James R. and Lou E. (Speer) Gurley.
She was married to B.W. Musteen in Wayne county in 1933.  He preceded her in death Mar. 3, 1970.  The Musteens lived in Cameron, Mo., for many years.  Mrs. Musteen moved to Fairfield in 1972 following the death of her husband.  She was a housewife during her marriage.
Mrs. Musteen was a member of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by a nephew, James Gurley, of Louisville, Ky.; a niece, Mrs. Rosalie Gurley Wagner of Boulder, Colo.; two step-sons, Harold Musteen of Kansas City, Mo.; and Merle Musteen, of Benton, Ark.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Edith Daniel, of Costa Mesa, Cali.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were one son, John Barr, in 1939, four brothers and sisters, and two twin step-sons, Larren and Warren Musteen.
1999 Robert “Bob” Richardson, 80, of Wayne City, died 11:53 a.m. march 26, 1999 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was a retired construction worker and member of Laborers Union 1260 of Fairfield.
Born Oct. 16, 1918, in Wayne City, he was son of Ross and Norma (Burge) Richardson.  March 28, 1940, he married Sylvia Withrow, who survives.  Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Archie L. Sanders memorial chapel in Wayne City with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating.  Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery.  Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel.
Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Brent Richardson and wife Ann of Belleville and Derrell Richardson of Christopher; four grandchildren, Carrol and Stephanie Richardson of Cero Gordo, Cindy and Craig Wells of Mount Zion, Michael B. Richardson of St. Louis and Teddi Sue Londstrom and husband Steve of Alton; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Geneva Sledge of Georgia and Bruner and Betty White of Wayne City.
Mr. Richardson was a veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
