In Memoriam March 28th

1733 Israel Lathrop in Norwich, CT the son of Samuel & Elizabeth (Scudder) Lathrop he was born in New London, CT in 1659.  He married Rebecca Bliss in 1686.  "His headstone in old Norwich Town burial ground is the oldest one now there with an inscription on it.  It gives us this tribute to his worth: `Here lies buried ye body of Mr. Israel Lothrup, ye Husband of Mrs. Rebekah Lothrup, who lived a life of exemplary piety & left ye Earth for Heaven Mar. ye 28, 1733, in ye 73d year of his age.'" [Huntington, pp. 47-48]

1969 Chester Newby in Chicago, IL age 47 he was born in Heber Springs, AR in 1922.  He married Louella Talbert in 1960.  They had no children.


1985 Carl Albert Lathrop, 73, died about 6:35 p.m. Thursday in Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Ind.  He resided at 1501 Fifth St., Lawrenceville.
Born in Richland County, Ill., Sept. 28, 1911, he was the son of Edgar and Anna Marie Materna Lathrop.  He was married to Mary C. Bailey, who survives him.
Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Karen Jean and Dr. Donald R. Hawes of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two brothers, Arthur Lathrop of rural Claremont and Fred Lathrop of Melrose Park; two daughters [sisters], Lucille Lathrop and Dorothy Lathrop, both of Olney; and two grandchildren.
His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Lathrop was a retired carpenter and affiliated witht the Sixth Street Wesleyan Church.
Funeral rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday from Nichols-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Elwood Stuart officiating.  Interment will follow in Lawrenceville Cemetery.
2009 Marvin Robertson in Belle Rive, IL age 67 he was born there in 1942 the son of  Homer & Nana (Ratliff) Robertson.
