1960 Final Rites for
Retired Army Officer; Died Last Thursday at Home in California.
Funeral
services for John T. Barr, a former Sims boy, were held from the Hopewell
Methodist church north of Wayne City, Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Niles
Stone officiating. Interment was in the
church cemetery.
Mr.
Barr, 64, a retired army officer, died last Thursday at his home in Paso
Robles, Calif., of a heart attack.
He
served in the army in both World War I and World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and
VFW in Paso Robles.
John
T., son of J.T. and Alice Johnson Barr, was born in Wayne county October 6th,
1895.
In
1932 he was married to Mary Shatte.
Mr.
Barr was a memberof the Hopewell Methodist church and also of the Wayne City
Masonic Lodge.
Surviving
are his wife, Mary; and two brothers, Willard and Orville Barr, both of Sims.
Military
rites were conducted by the Wayne City American Legion Post No. 1132. The Richardson Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
