born in England ca. 1628 and married John Capen in 1647.
1825 Jonathan Janes
in St. Albans, VT age 69. He was the son
of Jonathan & Irene (Bradford) Janes born in 1756. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in St.
Albans, VT.
1983 - John Edward Butler,
67, of Sims, formerly of Wayne City, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 1983,
at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for eight days.
Mr. Butler was in declining health suffering from emphysema and a physical disability. He moved from Wayne City nine months ago to live with his sister, Mrs. Paul (Mabel) Robertson, Sr. of Sims because of his health.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Richardson Funeral Home, of Wayne City, with Rev. Nolan Eubanks officiating. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery at Wayne City.
Visitation for family and friends will be held after 6 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the funeral home in Wayne City.
Mr. Butler was born in Wayne City, Jan. 26, 1916 the son of Mortin [sic] and Mary Anna (Robertson) Butler. He attended school in Wayne City.
He was employed for 14 years at the Peerless Wood Company at Rockford before returning to Wayne City 10 years ago, when he became disabled.
Mr. Butler was a member of the Wayne City United Methodist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Robert Butler of Oklahoma City, Okla.; John Butler of Wayne City; and Henry Dale Butler of Noble; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Ellen Marie) Barnfield, of Cisne; Mrs. David (Henrietta) Kennedy, of Carmi; and Mrs. Gary (Mary May) Clayton, of Noble; one brother James Everett Butler, of Evansville, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Paul (Mabel) Robertson, Sr., of Sims and six grandchildren.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
1986 Mrs. Zella
Lathrop, 72 of rural Wayne City, the widow of Bernard Lathrop, died at 2:55
p.m. Sunday, June 29, 1986 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Lathrop was in ill health for the past year.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City with burial to be in Mt. Zion Cemetery south of Keenes.
Visitation will be conducted after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Born Mar. 21, 1914 in Piggott, Ark., Mrs. Lathrop was the daughter of J.H. and Bessie Baker Merritt.
She and her husband, Bernard, farmed south of Wayne City, until his death Mar. 9, 1984. Mrs. Lathrop was a housewife and homemaker during her marriage.
Survivors include one brother and a sister, Dempsey Merritt of Jacksonville, Fla., and Louise Martin of Cahokia.

Additional information concerning the survivors of Mrs. Zella Lathrop, 72 of Wayne City, she died June 29, has been received by the Press. Mrs. Lathrop is also survived by a step-son and daughter-in-law, George and Rosemary Lathrop, and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
