Cornwell Connections - The story about "why a mountain climber likes to scale the highest peak" is becoming well known. When one of the explorers of a recent expedition attempting to reach the summit of Mount Everest was asked "Why?", the mountain climber looked incredulously at his questioner and replied: "Because it is THERE!"

Many genealogy researchers could well give that same answer to those who ask such questions as "Why do you like to delve so much into the past? What good does it do you to find out who your great-great-great-grandparents were, etc.? Why do you want to learn the history of generations long past?"

The same answer as the mountain climber gave can often be given - "Because it is THERE!"

This answer would not always apply, of course. If a person's immediate grandparents happened to come to the United States from some European or other foreign country, perhaps 100 years ago or so, there sometimes would be nothing more you could learn about them in America than their birth and death dates, and something of their life story in this country. In that case, if you sought any information beyond the generation of your two grandfathers, you would have to go abroad, or

Ahnentafel #900 - (--?--) Dennen

(--?--) Dennen

Born: ca. 1710, possibly in northern Ireland
Died: unknown

Buried: unknown

Married: ca 1730

Notes:
The name in Irish records is Dinnen. Name in England is Dennen.

People on Ancestry are saying this is William Dennen married to Marie Barbary or Barbara, the source they are using is a Civil War pension file from Maine.  There's no evidence that our Dennen's lived in Maine and certainly none that a Quaker would have participated in the Civil War. If the Dennen's in Ireland were Quakers.

Perhaps they were from somewhere other than Ireland.
