John Blackburn of Loughall in the Countie of Ardmagh & Rachel Mortan Daughter of William Mortan Deceased of ye sd Countie having Declared their Intentions of marriage with Each other in several publick meetings of ye people Called Quakers whose proceedings therein after Deliberate Consideration thereof Enquiry being made Concerning their Clearness from all others & they appearing Clear & having Consent of parents & Relations Concerned their Marriage was Consented unto by the sd Meeting.

Now these are to Certifie all whome it may Concern that for ye full accomplishing of their said Intentions according to Gods Ordinance ye sd John Blackburn & Rachel Mortan appeared in a publick meeting of ye said people mett together to Worship God in their publick Meeting house in Bellyhagan in ye County aforsd upon the sixteenth day of the third month Called May in the Year one thousand seven hundred and seventeen where being Contracted ye said John Blackburn taking the said Rachel Mortan by the hand did solemnly Declare as followeth: in ye presence of God & this assembly I take Rachel Mortan to be my wife promising through the Lord's assistance to be a loving Husband till death part us

And then & there in ye said assembly ye sd Rachel Mortan did declare in like manner as followeth: In the presence of God & this assembly I take John Blackburn to be my Husband & Give my selfe to be his wife promising through the Lords assistance to be a Loving & Dutifull wife till Death part us. 

And as further Confirmation thereof ye said John Blackburn & Rachel did to these presents subscribe their names as Husband & Wife and they whose names are under written being present with many more at ye solemnizing of their sd marriage & subscription aforesaid as witnesses have sett their hand ye day & year above written.

1736 - August 30 - Adams County, PA - John Blackburn, wife & children received in Quaker meeting from Ballyhagen Meeting, County Armagh, Ireland

1748 - April 18 - York Co., PA - John Blackburn & family settled within the limits of Warrington Monthly Meeting.  He was appointed overseer of Warrington Meeting on April 18, 1748. The Warrington Meeting was located in Warrington Twp. about nine miles south-west of Newberry and midway between the present villages of Wellsville & Rossville.  It was established in 1745. 

1756 - Jan. 17 - York Co., PA - John Blackburn released from Warrington Meeting. 

1986 - monument - John Blackburn - Born in Loughgall, County Armagh, Ireland. John arrived in North America in 1736 and was one of the earliest settlers of Menallen Township, Pennsylvania where he died in 1752. He married first to Mary (Courtney) Winter in 1701; she died in Ireland in 1713.  In 1717, John married Rachel Morton (born in 1694, County Down, Ireland). His descendants congregated in 1986 to dedicate this marker and commemorate the 250th anniversary of his arrival.
