In Memoriam - October 5th

1708 Elizabeth (Lathrop) Waterman age 28.  The daughter of Samuel & Hannah (Adgate) Lathrop she was born in Norwich, CT in 1679.  Elizabeth married John Waterman in 1701 and they had four children: unnamed child, John, Hannah and Elizabeth.

1886 Rosco Boswell 10 day old son of Pullium & Hannah (Robertson) Boswell.  He is buried in Farnsworth / Mt. Zion Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

1962 Della (?) Clark, 83, in Ironton, OH.  Born in 1879 she was the wife of John Clark.


2002 Charles Williams “Poppy” Taylor, 68, of Mt. Vernon died 5:05 a.m. Oct. 5, 2005 at his residence in Mt. Vernon
He was owner/operator of Taylor Construction with his sons.
Mr. Taylor was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Somerset, Ky., to Isaac and Mary (Harrison) Taylor.  He married Katherine R. (Newbury) Taylor Oct. 27, 1973, in Mt. Vernon; she survives.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.  The Rev. Jesse Allen will officiate.  A military flag presentation will be conducted by the chaplain of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Katherine Taylor of Mt. Vernon; children Mary Dial and husband Monty, Lori Hunsell and husband Jacob and Liz, Frank, Brent, Brenda and Willie; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Linda Creech and Nancy Taylor; a brother Kenneth Taylor; and a very special uncle, Alva Harrison.
Mr. Taylor was a U.S. Navy veteran; a member of the American Legion, Bluford Sportsman’s Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and was active in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  He loved his family and friends, especially his wife, children and grandchildren.  His grandchildren Jacob and Hannah were the true apples of his eye.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting matches and having family and friends at his home where he loved to joke and “shoot the bull” with everyone.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be made to Hughey Funeral Home.
