In Memoriam August 3rd

1630 Rev. John House age 70 in Eastwell, England.  He was born ca. 1560 in Eastwell to Thomas & Alice (Hinton) House.  He married Alice Lloyd ca. 1590 and they had at least one child:  Hannah. 


1980 Claude Dulaney in South Dakota at age 82.  The son of William & Ida (Lathrop) Dulaney was born in Keenes, IL in 1898. He is buried in Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.

1993 Diana (Shaw) Shields age 32 in Carmi, IL.  She was the daughter of Vershel & Ruby (Haile) Shaw born in 1961.  She married ? Shields and had four children: Paul, Dion, Nicole and Maranda.  Diana is buried in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.


1994  Mrs. Marcia Case, 79, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1994 at a nursing home in Dwight.
A retired restaurant operator here, Mrs. Case had been at the nursing home a couple of months.
Funeral rites will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Johnson Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Schmidt officiating.  Interment will be in the Koontz Cemetery here.  Visitation at the Johnson Chapel will be 6 to 8 Monday evening (tonight).
Mr. [sic] Case and her husband, the late Buel Case, operated a number of Fairfield restaurants over the years.  He passed away Sept. 14, 1981.
She was born in White County Apr. 5, 1915 the daughter of John and Ida Pennington Baker.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and one son.
Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Browning of Fairfield; a son Fred Colclasure of Dwight; a sister Madge Mason of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
2012 Alan Scott Head, 58, of Mt. Vernon, died 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2012, at his home surrounded by family following a 2 year illness. 
He owned and operated Ahead of the Rest Lawn Service until failing health.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Celebration of life was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Chaplain Chuck Smith officiating.  Visitation was held on Sunday from 5 p.m. until service time at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. 
Scott was born Jan. 11, 1954, in Will County (Joliet), the oldest son of William and Gwendolyn (Baker) Head.  He married Cheryl Lynn (Colclasure) on March 1, 1974 in Plainfield; and she survives in Mt. Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Lynn Head of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Joshua Head and wife Jennifer of Bourbonnais, Nathaniel Head and wife Tana of East Alton and Christopher Head and wife Chelsea of San Diego, Calif.; sister, Toni and husband David Cowger of Old Town, Fla.; and also seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kenzie, Joshua, Ashlyn, Taryn, Tristan and Tori.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marty; parent-in-law, Hazel and Dale Colclasure; brother-in-law Bob; sisters-in-law Nancy and Rose; and one nephew, Jason Anselmo.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to the SSM Hospice of Good Samaritan and will be accepted at the funeral home.
