Susan Dawson was born May 5, 1812. She married Michael Young September 29, 1835 at age 23. She was his second wife. Michael born April 4, 1800 was the son of Jacob & Rachel Goodnight. He had married first Emily (?) ca. 1826 and had at least three children Nancy, Julia and William. Emily may have died when Julia was born in 1832. Susan raised the girls and this photo has been passed down through the family to me. Michael and Susan lived in Simpsonville, Kentucky where Michael held the position of postmaster from 1839 to 1841 and in Jefferson County, Kentucky. In the 1860 and 1870 census records she is listed as having personal estate in the amount of $1200. Susan died Aug. 1, 1871 at age 59. Michael died January 4, 1877. They are buried in the Simpsonville Cemetery.
