In Memoriam January 20th

1883 Susanna (Morehead) Gurley age 46 in Wayne Co., IL.  The daughter of Alfred & Elizabeth (Durall) Morehead was born in Kentucky in 1837.  She married Leonard Gurley in 1857 in Massac County as his second wife.  They had six children and divorced in 1868.  The couple remarried in Clay Co., IL in 1869 and two more children. 


1912 Benjamin Draper in Johnson Co., IN age 93.  Born in Dearborn Co., IN in 1818, he was the son of Thomas & Catherine (Harbert) Draper.  He married Elizabeth Wheeling in Johnson Co., IN in 1841.  They had thirteen children. Benjamin Draper was a farmer.  His attention has always been given to farming.  He has three fish ponds on his farm, which are well stocked with different varieties of carp and to these Mr. Draper gives his personal attention.  He owns 200 acres of good land, of which 120 acres are in Pleasant Township and eighty in Clark Township.  About 150 acres of his land are in cultivation.  He is a Whig and cast his first presidential vote for Harrison.  Since 1856 he has been an ardent Republican.  Benjamin is buried in Glade Cemetery in Johnson Co., IN.
