Mervin Lea Lathrop, 84, of Granite City, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at University Nursing Rehab in Edwardsville.
He was the technical foreman of the Illinois Power Plant in Wood River.
The family will have a celebration of life service at Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City on Sunday, October 27 at noon.
Visitation will start at 11 a.m. and go until the time of service.
Mervin was born January 25, 1935 near Keenes to Roscoe and Viola (Brown) Lathrop. He married Thelma Coil on December 18, 1955.
He graduated from Wayne City High School in 1952.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Coil) Lathrop; daughters Donna (David) Thomas of Granite City, Twyla (Tom) Smiddy of Granite City and Sandra Smiddy of Granite City; sons Stephen (Ruth) Lathrop of Granite City and Kenneth (Dorthy) Lathrop of Collinsville and brother, Howard (Doris) Lathrop.
