Military Service: Served in Vermont militia during the American Revolution. In October 1780 a payroll of Capt. Joshua Hazen's Company in Colo. Wood's Regiment that marched to Brookfield in the Larm (?) Oct. 1780 includes Rowland Powell and his sons Rowland Powell Jun. Luther and Calvin. Rowland Sr. served 3 days, wages due 4 shillings 2 pence, Travel from home 40 miles, Traveling wages 13 shillings, 4 pence for a total of 17 shillings, 4 pence. His sons served the same time and received the same payment.

1790 Vermont - Hartford age 60 Rowland & Mary and a female, not clear which one is living with them.
1800 Vermont - Hartford, age 70 Rowland & Mary are living alone between John Richardson and Luther Powell.
