Died: 1872, Decatur Co., IN

Thomas Draper Sr.
Died on Wednesday morning, 8th inst., at his residence, three miles north of this city [Greensburg, IN], Thomas Draper, Sr. in his 77th year.  The deceased was native of West Virginia, but emigrated when yeat a youth.  In 1822 he settled on the farm which has since been his home . . . leaves a large family of children and grand-children.

1810 Shenandoah Co., VA - Southampton, one male 16-26 and one female 16-26, Thomas would have been 22.  This is probably the first wife

1820 Dearborn Co., IN - Laughery Twp. a Thomas Draper family:

• 3 males under 10 - Andrew age 5, Benjamin age 2, William age 8
• 1 female 16-25 Catherine age 30
• 1 female under 10 - unidentified

1825 - Dearborn Co., IN - Thomas Draper purchased E1/2, NE1/4, Sec. 25, T11N, R9E with James Hooten - land accessed by County Road 250 now

1829 - Dearborn Co., IN - Thomas Draper purchased W1/2, SE1/4, Sec. 25, T11N, R9E - land accessed by County Road 250 now and I-74 goes through it. 

1830 Decatur Co., IN, age about 40 living with Catherine and five children

1840 Decatur Co., IN - there are two Thomas Draper's listed on the census.  He is probably the head of this family:

• 1 male 50-60 Thomas age 52
• 1 male 15-20 Benjamin?  age 22
• 1 male 10-15 Oliver age 12
• 1 male under 5 Worthington age 5
• 1 female 30-40 Catherine? age 50
• 1 female 15-20 Louisa  age 15
• 2 females 5-10 Lucinda age 8, Nancy age 6
• 1 female under 5 Catherine age 2

1850 Decatur Co., IN - Washington Twp. age 61, real estate valued at $4000, living with son William who owned $600 of real estate

1860 Decatur Co., IN - Washington Twp. age 71 with wife Catherine and son William and a George Draper (probably Worthington).  Real estate was valued at $10,000 and personal estate $2000.

1870 Decatur Co., IN - Washington Twp. age 81 living with a George and other members of the family.  His real estate holdings are valued at $14,000 and personal estate at $2,000.

Probate:
J.A. Fyffe filed for Guardian Report on behalf of Joel, Grant & George Lathrop that he received $20.87 a piece from A.J. Draper who was probating Thomas Draper's estate.  Louisa died in 1867 so her portion of Thomas' estate was divided between her children.  This division indicates that she would have received about $230.  She was one of probably nine children, so Thomas Draper's entire distributed estate would have been in the neighborhood of $1840.
