Master Sgt. Ernest Ray McManus, 86, Dies; Retired US Army
Master Sergeant (retired) Ernest Ray McManus, 86, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Following twenty years in the US Army, Ernest was the service manager for a furniture company for over 20 years.
Burial was Thursday, January 10, at Fort Sill National Cemetery Elgin, Oklahoma with full military honors.
He was born in Flora, July 29, 1932 to Ernest and Corrine (Carlisle) McManus
He was a graduate of Fairfield Community High School, class of 1950.
He married Magdalena "Linda" Stosberger in Germany in 1953. He married Chun Cha Kim December 17, 1965 in Seoul, South Korea. She died September 28, 2017.
His hobby was genealogy and served as the president of a research club.
He is survived by a son, Michael Ray of Connecticut; step-daughter, Hui Suk (Henry) Woods of Lawton and step-son, Jun (Song) Kim of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother Bob of Shippensburg, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter, Krista, son Ernest Ray, and brother John.
Mom and I got acquainted with Ernest through his Pink Press letters detailing his family history. From those we learned that we are cousins and mom corresponded with Ernest for a time.
