Edna Gurley Davis by Trixie Lathrop

My grandma lived in Evansville, Indiana on 602 Walnut St. for years.  She took in boarders and Buelah Johnnye Johnson a retired army nurse lived with her there.  I went to spend a week there every year.  Bill Davis also roomed there and eventually they married.  She took me to Mesker zoo and the Ice Capades and Water Follies when I was there.  Also to lots of movies.  We would go to Sunset Park on the river and watch the sun go down.  It was a part of town where you kept doors and windows locked.  There were French doors out of the living room onto a small front porch.  The porch was totally surrounded by a brick wall.  She worked at Dunhill's Schultz's and DeJong's department stores.  I got lots of clothes from her because she got a discount on them.  She and Bill Davis moved to 1636 Washington Ave. and I visited them in the summer there.
