In Memoriam - December 27th



1853 Alonzo Johnson in Richford, VT age 26 the son of Jeremiah & Sarah (Allen) Janes.  He was born in Richford in 1827 and is buried in South Richford Cemetery in Richford, VT.



1958 John F. Lathrop, 81, of Route 4 Sumner, died in the Olney hospital Saturday.  His widow, Lizzie Stiff Lathrop, one son, one daughter, three brothers and two sisters survive him.


John Lathrop, son of Albert and Otealia [sic] Lathrop, was born February 23, 1877 and passed away December 27, 1958.

He was married to Lizzie Stiff, daughter of Lewis and Mary Jane Stiff, on March 20th, 1901.  Born to them were three children, one son dying infancy.

Left to mourn are one son Herman and wife of Olney and one daughter Mary Breen and husband of Charleston, Ill., four devoted granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

He also leaves three brothers, Dempy, Dennis and Merritt; two sisters Veva Wagner and mata Petty, both of Sumner; also many nephews and neices and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a faithful member of Prairie Chapel Church for 48 years.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 29th at 10:00 a.m. from the Sivert Funeral Home.  Rev. H.L. Carrell had charge of the service.  Burial was made in the Sumner Cemetery.


1978 David Marple son of Thomas & Margaret (Jenkins) Marple age 64 in Ft. Lyon, CO.  He was born in Coal Hill, AR in 1914.  After serving in World War II he married Emily Bond and they had five children: Lynda, Robert, Lee, Thomas and Steven.  David is buried in Fort Lyon National Cemetery in Ft. Lyon, CO.



1987 Edith (Shaw) Bergeson age 57 in Dixon, IL the daughter of Vern & Mary (Rainwater) Shaw.  She was born in Wayne Co., IL in 1930.  Edith married Walter Bergeson and they had four children:  Edward, Randy, Connie and Lona. She is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Woodlawn, IL.



1991 Mary (Osborn) Rogers in Mt. Vernon, IL age 89.  She was born in Wayne Co., IL in 1902 the daughter of Louis & Idella (Robertson) Osborn.  She married Vernie Rogers and had two sons: Verna and Harold.  Mary is buried in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon, IL.
