In Memoriam - November 6th

1711 Sgt. Samuel Loomis the son of Lt. Samuel & Elizabeth (Judd) Loomis.  He married Hannah Hanchet.

1715 Jeremiah Hobart in Haddam, CT age 84. The son of Peter & Elizabeth (Ibrook) Hobart he was born in Suffolk, England in 1631. 

1923 Louisa (Probst) Dietz Wener Harre in White Co., IL age 72.  She was born in Germany in 1851 the daughter of Andrew & Sophia Probst. The family immigrated to Indiana before 1860.  She married 1) John Dietz, 2) Jacob Wener and 3) Henry Harre.  Louisa is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, IN.


1951 Margaret (Lathrop) Shannon age 85 in Indiana.  She was born in 1866 the daughter of James & Mary (Butler) Lathrop.  Margaret married John Shannon and they had two children:  Thomas and James.  She is buried in Southlawn Cemetery in Greensburg, IN.

1975 Anna (Erkman) Wheeler in Albion, IL age 92.  She was born in White Co., IL in 1883 the daughter of Jacob & Fredericka (Probst) Erkman.  Anna married Lonnie Wheeler and they had two children:  a son and Bernice.  The couple raised Anna’s great niece Trixie Erkman.  She is buried in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

1990 Ross Lathrop, 83, Rt. 1, Claremont, Ill., died at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 1990 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Ind.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Summes-Kistler Funeral Home, Olney, with Rev. Kenneth Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday (today) at the funeral home.
Mr. Lathrop was born May 12, 1907 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of Oscar and Effie (Dewhirst) Lathrop. He married Rosa West on Nov. 29, 1934 and she survives.
He was a retired farmer.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Rosa Lathrop of Claremont, are two sons, Bill Lathrop, Lawrenceville, and Dick Lathrop, Claremont; one brother, Virgil Lathrop, McAllen, Texas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Thelma.

2006  Christine Wagner age 84, Rural Sumner, IL, died Monday, November 6, 2006.
She was born on August 22, 1922, she was the daughter of Leonard Cummins and Nannie Smith Cummins. She married Kenneth Wagner on March 17, 1945. He died on September 28, 2002.
She was a homemaker; a member of the United Methodist Church in Sumner; United Methodist Women, past president, charter member of the Lawrence County Home Bureau.
Survivors include one son, Gary Wagner and wife Nancy of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Nancy Peterson and husband Rick of Mt. Carmel; one grandchild, Jayme Harmon and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Jack, Carl and Gene Cummins; one sister, Maxine Cummins; one infant grandson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the Sumner United Methodist Church, Sumner, IL.
Burial was in the Sumner City Cemetery. Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner was in charge of arrangements.
