In Memoriam - September 9th

1513 John Morehead of Lauchope killed at Flodden Field. He was the son of Sir William & Mariota (Hamilton) Morehead and married Margaret Hepburn.  He had at least one son John.

1659 Abigail (Whitefield) Fitch in Saybrook, CT.  She was the first wife of Rev. James Fitch and they married in 1648 in Guilford, CT.  Abigail and James had six children: James, Abigail, Elizabeth, Hannah, Samuel and Dorothy.

1693 Rebecca (Peck) Hobart in Hingham, MA age 73.  She was born in England in 1620 and married Peter Hobart in Massachusetts.  They had seven children: Japhet, Nehemiah, David, Rebecca, Abigail, Lydia and Hezekiah.
The will of Rebecca Hobart of Hingham, widow, dated 5 September 1693 and proved 29 March 1694, gave son David Hobart her dwelling house and outhousing with thirty acres, one third of her meadow in Broad Cove, both salt and fresh meadow on the south side of the meadow next to the highway leading to the great lots; seven shares of unidivided Commons.  To son Nehemiah Hobart, daughter Rebecca Mason and daughter Lydia Lincolne, she gave twenty acres pasture land adjoining the salt marsh at Broad Cove, with all of the saltmarsh not otherwise disposed of; a small island between the said marsh and the highway leading to the planting fields; thirteen shares of the undivided Commons, to be divided equally.  David also received one bed and bedding from the Hall Chamber, the rest of the household goods to be divided between Rebeca and Lydia.  The four children were to share alike in the remainder of the estate unless son Japhet Hobart "be still living and shall come in person to make his demand," in which case each of the four would pay Japhet £10.  David Hobart was named executor and witness were Thomas Marsh, Daniel Hobart, and Isaac Johnson.
1729 Sarah (Cheesebrough) Gallop in Stonington, CT.  She was the wife of William Gallop and they had four children: Sarah, Mary, Hannah and Temperance.  Sarah is buried in Whitehall burying ground in Connecticut.

1864 Sara Crumbacher 1 ½ year old daughter of James & Nancy (Gentle) Crumbacher. 

1874 John Robertson son of David & Mary (Henry) Robertson in Illinois.  Born in Virginia or Ohio in 1798 he was 76 years old.  John married Sarah Campbell and they had at least seven children:  unnamed son, unnamed daughter, Maurice, George, Lemaris, Thomas and Chloe.  John is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL.

1887 William Young the son of Jacob & Rachel (Goodnight) Young age 74, he was born in 1812.  He married 1) Rachel Sturgeon, 2) Nancy Sturgeon and 3) Rachel Downing.

1903 Ross Lathrop age 3 son of Henry & Luvina (Hostettler) Lathrop in Richland Co., IL.  He was born in 1899 and Ross is buried in Amity Cemetery in Richland Co., IL.

1925 Vida (Land) Fitzgerald age 18 in Iola, IL.  She was born ca. 1907 in Iola and married Lawrence Fitzgerald in 1923 in Terre Haute, IN.  They had one son Harold. 

1978 Florence (Brewe) Mick. She married Gustav Mick and they had one son: Vernon.
Laland Robertson age 64 son of Leonard & Jennie (Beattie) Robertson. He was born in 1914 in Illinois.  Laland married Vivian Morger and they had nine children: Jim, Billy, Mary, unnamed daughter, Lelah, Robert, Patty, Donny and Harold.  He is buried at Pin Oak Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

1979 Minerva (Fitzgerald) Snyder age 86 the daughter of Lafayette & Lillian (Halberstadt) Fitzgerald she was born in 1893.  Minerva married William Snyder and they had five children: Ralph, Violet, Lawrence, Virginia and Dale. 

2008 Doris Riddle, 52, Fairfield, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
She was a registered nurse.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Brown Cemetery in Mt. Erie.  Visitation is Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home.
Doris was born in Joliet November 6, 1955, the daughter of Lea Roy and Mary John Whitlow.
Survivors include daughters Wendy (Jason) Jones, Jade Elizabeth Riddle, Fairfield, a son James Wesley (Brenda) Riddle, Kaycee, Wy.; four grandchildren; sisters Brenda (Wesley) Lee, Fairfield and Linda (Warren) Thomason of Aurora; brothers, Johnny (Glenda) Whitlow, Fairfield and Dennis (Flora) Whitlow of Chaffee, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
