In Memoriam - September 7th


1806 Mary (Richardson) Powell in Hartford, VT age 77.  She was born in Connecticut in 1729 the daughter of Amos and Abigail (?) Richardson.  In 1750 she married Rowland Powell and they had eight children: Elisha, Luther, Lucy, Rowland, John, Chloe, Calvin and Lurany.  She is buried in Salvage-Delano Cemetery in Hartford, VT.

1819 Charles Hinkle age 40.  He was the son of Philip & Mary (Johnson) Hinkle.

1866 Samuel Maier 11 day old son of Joseph & Clara (Erkman) Maier in White Co., IL.

1868 Katherine Maier 2 month old daughter of Joseph & Clara (Erkman) Maier in White Co., IL

1871 Hiram Gurley son of Willis & Elizabeth  (Yandle) Gurley age 28.  He was born in Illinois in 1843 and married Ellen. 

1924 Gilbert Lathrop age 65 in Richland Co., IL.  He was the son of Henry & Rachel (Laws) Lathrop born in Richland Co., Il in 1860 .  Gilbert married Harriet Roney in 1883 and they had seven children: Jennie, George, Glen, henry, Charles, Bert and Cora. He is buried in Amity Cemetery in Richland Co., IL.

1972 Kenneth Lathrop, age 59, of 729 E. Laurel street, passed away last evening at the Richland Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Lathrop was a lifelong resident of the county and was born in German Township the son of Curtis Lathrop and Alma Corrie Lathrop.  He was married to Dorothea Pearson on August 22, 1937.  He was a member of the Plumber and Pipe Fitters Local No. 157 of Terre Haute, Indiana.
He leaves his wife, Dorothea, and three children: Gary Lathrop of Olney, Mrs. Richard (Lynn) Harrison of Aurora and Mrs. Jerry (Ruth Ann) McDowell of Olney.
Threre are three grandchildren Jay and Dan Harrison and Lori Ann Lathrop.  He also is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Lathrop of Olney, two sisters, Mrs. Corwin (Betty) Manning of Newton and Wilma Lathrop of Olney.
Private funeral services for the family and relatives will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Eggebrecht officiating.  Interment will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park.
1991 Warden “Bus” White age 69 in Mt. Vernon, IL.  He was born in Mt. Vernon, IL in 1922 and married Betty Richardson in 1945.  They had four children: Sandra, Stephen, Susan and Stephanie.  Bus served in the Marine Corps during World War II and worked for 30 years as the postmaster in Wayne City, IL.  He is buried in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.
