Ahnentafel #149 - Catherine (--?--)

Catherine (--?--)

Born: ca. 1774
Died: after 1820

Buried: Unknown

Married: ca. 1789 Robert Beasley probably in North Carolina, no marriage record found yet.  She may have been a Cook.  In her husband's will he names "my brother Benjamin Beazley and James Cook" to be his executors.  It is possible that James Cook is a brother to Catherine or Robert's cousin or uncle on his mother's side.

Records:

1800 - North Carolina, Stokes Co., census age ca. 26 living with Robert and five sons all under the age of five.

1810 - North Carolina, Stokes Co., tax list age ca. 36, this is supposedly the 1810 census, but it reads like a tax list.
  • Will of Robert Beazley dated September 19 wills his to "my beloved wife Caty Beazley the whole of my estate (without demanding to particulars) during her widowhood and after her death to be equally divided among my children - but in case of her second marriage my desires that my estate shall then be divided in the like manner as the law directs in cases of intestate estates."
1815 - North Carolina, Stokes Co., tax list age ca. 41 listed as Katherine Beazly owning 216 acres valued at $200.  She also paid for two white polls probably her sons Isham and James. The family is living in the Peter's Creek District of the Stokes County.

1820 - North Carolina, Stokes Co., census, age ca. 46.  Catherine is listed as head of household.  She has 1 son between 10 and 15, 1 son between 16 and 18 and 2 sons 16 to 25.  James & Isham have homes of their own in this census. There are also two daughters ages 10 to 15.  Three in the household are engaged in agriculture.

This is the last record I have for Catherine.  She may have remarried, but I haven't found a record of it.  She may have died or she may be living in the household of an unnamed child.  She doesn't appear to have moved in with Isham's family.
