Ahnentafel #1074 - William Judd

William Judd aka Sergeant William Judd

Born: by 1635
Died: 1690 Farmington, CT

Buried: probably in Farmington, CT.

Married: March 31, 1657 Mary Steele

Records:
1663/34 - January 30 - Farmington, CT - William was mentioned in his father-in-law John Steele's will:

to "my son-in-law William Judd one third part of my land called Cock's Crook" . . . to "my sons-in-law William and Thomas Judd my now dwelling house and barn, house lot, yards, garden, orchard" after "mine and my wife's departure out of this natural life"; . . . residue to "my two sons-in-law William and Thomas Judd and do make them my sole executors."

1656 - May 15 - Farmington, CT - William was made a freeman.

1679 - May - Farmington, CT - William received land from his father Thomas Judd:

On [illegible] May 1679, "Deacon Judd of Farmington" deeded to "his son William Judd of Farmington diverse parcels of land, viz: one parcel of land containing twelve acres and a half . . . lying in the township of Farmington and in the meadow called the Farms Meadow . . . , one parcel of land containing two acres and a half lying also in the Farms Meadow . . . both which parcels of land were part of Thomas Scoot's farm, one parcel of land lying in the Farms Meadow containing ten acres . . . one parcel of land in the little meadow of swamp and upland containing seven acres . . . , another parcel of land lying below the little meadow being five acres . . . , another parcel of land containing meadow and upland being half a third part of that parcel of land that was Deacon Judd's excepting three acres which Thomas Judd Junior hath already in possession which was by agreement divided to him out of the whole parcel."

1690 - Nov. 5 - Farmington, CT - His inventory was presented to probate court. William had in lands and buildings £495 and in personal estate £198, making £693. This was an ample estate for those days, and it appears by the church record, that "not many of the brethren with us have so large accommodations as himself." His age at the time of his decease was between 54 and 57.
