Thanksgiving Birthdays:

1612 Euphanie Morehead in Edinburgh, Scotland daughter of David & Marioun (Lowsone) Morehead

1828 Wilson Laws son of William & Appie (?) Laws in North Carolina.  He married Samantha Lathrop in Lawrence Co., IL in 1842.  His sister Rachel married Samantha’s brother Henry in 1844 in Lawrence Co.  Wilson and Samantha had no children.  Samantha died in 1875 in Lawrence Co., IL.  Wilson died in 1879.  They are buried in Leach Cemetery in Lawrence Co., IL.

1858 Henry Morehead Gurley in Wayne Co., IL the son of Leonard & Susanna (Morehead) Gurley.  He died in 1913 in Wayne Co., IL.

1916 Eldren Smith son of John & Sophia (Schmidt) Smith.  He died in 1991.

1948 Marilyn Galloway in Mt. Vernon, IL the daughter of Gerald & Gladys (Cravens) Galloway.  She died in Mt. Vernon, IL in 2009 and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, IL.

Dennis Shaw son of Lavern & Freda (Shields) Shaw.  He married Judy Hill and they have three children.


 1644 Samuel Lathrop & Elizabeth Scudder in Barnstable, MA.  Samuel was born 1623 in England the son of Rev. John & Hannah (House) Lathrop.  He came to America in 1634.  Samuel was living in Boston ca. 1644 where he worked as a carpenter and built houses.  There he met Elizabeth.  She was born ca. 1623 in Kent, England the daughter of John & Elizabeth (Stoughton) Scudder.  After their marriage the couple moved back to Barnstable, MA.  They moved to New London, CT ca. 1648 and had nine children.  Samuel was named a judge in 1649.  The next year he served on a committee to set up a grist mill.  He fought in the Narragansett War in 1657.  In 1661 he sold his homestead to Rev. Gershom Bulkley.  According to Huntington this house stood across the bridge over the mill brook on the east side of the highway toward Mohegan.  The family moved to Norwich, CT ca. 1668 where he built a house on the town street.  Over time he purchased and owned about 400 acres in Norwich.  Elizabeth died in 1668.  Samuel served as a constable In Norwich between 1673 and 1685.  He was contracted to build the Second Church in New London.  In 1690 Samuel married Abigail Doane.  Samuel died on leap day Feb. 29, 1700.
File No. 3293 abstract.To wife, use of house and house and homestead, moveables and rent of farm at New London, etc. during her widwohood; household stuff which my wife brought with her, I give to her to be at her own disposal; son John has had portion; to son Samuel my right in my farm consisting of 200 acres at Peagscomsuck.  To two sons Israel and Joseph my farm at Shoutuckitt, with 26 acres adjoining and my farm toward Lebanon of about 300 acres and 10 acres of meadow in Yantick, also my house and homestead at death and remarriage of wife; to son Israel 6 acres of pasture above my son Joseph's house; to 3 sons Samuel, Israe and Joseph, undivided lands.  Wit: John Woodward, Simon Huntington
 Inventory of the estate of Mr. Samuel Lothrup of Norwich, who deceased Feb. 29th 1699/1700 taken be Thomas Leffingwell and Solomon Tracy selectmen.  Good estate, not totaled.  Mrs. Abigail Lothrop of Norwich made oath, 8 Apr. 1700.  The names of the children or legatees:  John, deceased, Samuel, Israel, Joseph, Elizabeth deceased, Sarah, Martha, Abigail, Ann.
 1862 Joshua Ripley & Hannah Bradford.  Hannah was the daughter of Major William & Alice (Richards) Bradford.

1791 William Bruce & Hannah Morgan in Fauquier Co., VA.  Hannah was the daughter of William & Elizabeth (?) Morgan.

1813 Matthias Hinkle & Barbara Shoaf in Rowan Co., NC.  Matthias the son of Caspar & Fany Robertson was born in Rowan Co., NC in 1794.  He died in Davidson Co., NC in 1870.

1822 Enoch Buchanan & Abigail Colclasure in Washington Co., IN.  Abigail born 1799 in Henry Co. KY was the daughter of Jacob & Elinor (Dennen) Colclasure.  This was her first marriage.  Enoch died in 1829.  Abigail married 2) John Gilstrap in 1829.  She died in Washington Co., IN in 1861.


1897 Charles Johnson & Hannah Robertson in James Robertson’s home in Wayne Co., IL.  Charles born 1870 in Hamilton Co. IL was the son of William & Rebecca (Cain) Johnson.  Hannah the daughter of James & Mary (Maulding) Robertson was born in Wayne Co. IL in 1878.  They had nine children.  Charles died in 1949 and Hannah died in Carmi, IL in 1965.  They are buried in Farnsworth / Mt. Zion Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.
