Walker, Paul. Last Ferry on Wabash is at Darwin, Lawrenceville Daily Record, Jan. 26, 1976
Article about the Lathrop family who ran the ferry, Clarence Lathrop age 65 (b. 1911), Charles Lathrop age 71 (b. 1905)

Excerpts:
Clarence Lathrop has been the ferryman at Darwin for the past 10 years. Now approaching retirement age, he had first ferried here as an 18-year-old lad when his great-uncle Jim Lathrop was the ferryman. Following an Army career, Clarence was employed by John Deere, Marshall and Trailway Bus Co. before coming back to the ferry, for full-time employment in his later years.

The Darwin ferry has been a Lathrop family heritage. Clarence explained in our tape-recorded interview, "I've also had two brothers who have run this ferry. Three of us altogether; me, Charlie and Jess. Jess ferried here for five years; now deceased. Charlie ferried here for 30 years. He had to quit on account of poor health and I took over."
