1897 Grace Withrow in Sallisaw, OK the daughter of Franklin & Mary (Dove) Withrow.  She died in Tulsa, OK in 1973.

1901 Herman Dulaney son of William & Ida (Lathrop) Dulaney.  He died in 1979.

1906 Albert Lathrop in Wayne Co., IL son of Joel & Louisa (Dove) Lathrop and the great grandson of Cynthia Powell above. He was a school teacher and a farmer and lived at the bottom of Scrub Hill.  Albert died 1971 in Evansville, IN and is buried in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.

1883 Anna Erkman in White Co., IL the daughter of Jacob & Fredericka (Probst) Erkman.  She died in 1975 in Albion, IL and is buried in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.

1891 Maynard Butler son of George & Florence (Gentle) Butler in Wayne Co., IL.  He attended Illinois State University and became a teacher.  Maynard never married and died of an appendicitis attack in 1913 because he refused to have surgery.  He is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Jefferson Co., IL.

1636 Rev. Benjamin Doggett baptized in St. Mary le Power Parish, Ipswich, England.  He immigrated to Virginia ca. 1667.  Benjamin served as minister at St. Mary’s White Chapel in Lancaster Co., VA.  He died in Lancaster Co., VA in 1682.

1677 Isaac Loomis in Windsor, CT he was the son of Joseph & Mary (Chauncey) Loomis.  He died in Windsor in 1704 at age 26.

October 27th

Birthdays: 

1668 Anthony Hinkle in Merenberg, Germany son of George & Anna (Dentzer) Hinkle.  Anthony attended the University of Giessen and married Maria Dentzer ca. 1692. Maria born 1671 was the daughter of Johann & Barbara (Geibel) Dentzer.  The couple had twelve children, Anthony was a minister and served the parishes of Eschelbronn, Monchzell and Breitenbronn before immigrating to Philadelphia in 1717.  He founded St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Germantown, PA and organized many other churches in the area.  While answering a call of a sick parishioner one very dark night, upon his return home, his horse stumbled, fell and fatally injured him.  He died the same night at his home on Chestnut Hill August 17, 1728.  Maria died 1744 in Germantown, PA.  They are buried at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church.  The Hinkle Family Association has placed a monument just outside the church entrance.

1846 Joseph Milner in Jefferson Co., IL son of Thomas & Matilda (Holmes) Milner.  He served in the Illinois 48^th Infantry from Wayne Co., IL in the Civil War.  Joseph married Eliza Gurley ca. 1865.  They had four children.  The family was living in Sedgwick Co., KS in 1878 and moved to Pawnee, IL in 1880.  In 1900 they were living in Auburn, IL.  Eliza died in 1897.  Joseph died in Decatur, IL in 1921.  They are buried in Brush Creek Cemetery in Divernon, IL.

1886 Alma Corrie daughter of W.F. & Elva (McGuire) Corrie in Lawrence Co., IL.  She died in 1974 and is buried in Amity Cemetery in Richland Co., IL.

Maulding.  She married John Anderson who came from Kentucky to this vicinity about 1818.  He settled near the present spillway of the city lake.  His house served as the Seat of Justice for Hamilton County during formation and until a court building was erected in McLeansboro.  Mr. Anderson, born May 10, 1789 in Virginia, married Mourning Maulding, daughter of Ambrose Maulding.  John and Mourning Anderson were buried in the Rathbone cemetery south of McLeansboro.  [Harrelson, Ralph.  “A New Geography of Hamilton County,” Illinois Magazine, Vol. XVII, No. 2, Feb. 1978].  They had at least one daughter.  Mourning died 1846 in Hamilton Co. IL.  They are buried in Rathbone Cemetery in Hamilton Co., IL
