1748 Daniel Judd age 73 the son of Sgt. William & Mary (Steele) Judd.  He was born in 1675.


1910 Aaron Hardin son of John & Mary (Colclasure) Hardin age 84 in Bible Grove, IL.  He was born in Orange Co., IN in 1825.
A. T. Hardin, farmer, P. O. Bible Grove, was born June 25, 1824, in Orange County, Ind. He is a son of John Hardin, who for many years was a resident of Clay County, having first settled in Effingham County, Ill., to which place he came from Washington County, Ind., about 1860, to which latter place he came in 1815. He died February 11, 1883, aged eighty-seven years. He reared a large family of eleven children, and lived to see them all happily married. The mother of our subject was Ellen (Colclasure) Hardin. She was born in 1798, in Hardin County, Ky., and died February 12, 1871, in Mason, Effingham County, Ill.

1867 Warren Colclasure was the son of John & Rachel (Galbraith) Colclasure.  He was born in Clay Co. IL in 1832 and died there at age 35.  He married Sarah Spiker and they had six children, Marion, Jefferson, Angeline, John, Frances & Harriet.

1739 Jabez Perkins son of Jabez & Hannah (Lathrop) Perkins age 39. He was born in Norwich, CT in 1699 and married Rebecca Leonard in 1725.

1862 Catherine Erkman in White Co., IL age 20.  She was born in Holmes Co., OH in 1841 the daughter of Jacob & Katherine (Warner) Erkman.  She never married.

1953 Samuel Oliver in Louisville, IL age 70.  The son of Samuel & Belle (Spry) Oliver he was born in Louisville in 1882.  Sam married Gaynell White in 1907 and they had ten children: Alma, Elmer, Samuel, Robert, Charles, Warren, Helen, William, Morris and Marjorie.  He is buried in Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville, IL.

1873 Mary (Slaven) Fitzgerald age 65, she was born in Indiana in 1808.  She married Derritt Fitzgerald in 1826 and they had seven children: Permelia, Cynthia, Eliza, John, William, America and Thomas.  Mary is buried in Hoosier Prairie Cemetery in Clay Co., IL.


1989 Robert Oliver age 74 in Flora, IL, the son of Samuel & Gaynell (White) Oliver.  He was born in Louisville, IL in 1915.

1662 Hannah (Fox) Loomis in Windsor, CT. She married Thomas Loomis in 1653 and they had at least four children: Thomas, Thomas, Hannah and Mary.

1915 Blanche (Treat) Osborn age 21 in Wayne Co., IL.  Born in 1894 she married Oliver Osborn in 1912 and they had one daughter Irene.  She is buried in Bovee Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

1466 William Fitch in England.  He married Joanna Marston and they had at least two sons: John and Thomas.  William was about 66 years old.

1735 Mary (Judd) Janes the daughter of Sgt. William & Mary (Steele) Judd age 77 in Lebanon, CT.  She was born in Farmington, CT in 1658.  Mary married Abel Janes in Northampton, MA in 1679 and they had ten children: Mary, Ruth, Elizabeth, Elisha, Sarah, William, Esther, Noah, Rachel & Bathsheba.


1997 Ruth (Hubele) Erkman the wife of Louis Erkman was born in 1899. She was 97 years old.

1681 Mary (Chauncey) Loomis in Windsor, CT.  She married Joseph Loomis in 1659 and they had eight children: Sarah, Hannah, Matthew, Isaac, Stephen, James, Nathaniel and Isaac.


1705 William Hough age 47 the husband of Anne Lathrop.  He was born in New London, CT in 1657.

In Memoriam April 21st


1969 Jennie (Robertson) Johnson in Illinois the daughter of James & Mary (Maulding) Robertson was 82 years old.  She married Lee Johnson ca. 1907 and they had one son, Arthur.  Jennie is buried in Salem / Mateer Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.


1992 Mrs. Albert (Agnes) Crumbacher, 73, of 1001 Epworth died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 21, 1992, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. 
Mrs. Crumbacher entered the hospital Monday but had been hospitalized a number of times during a period of declining health.
She was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Johnson Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard McCormick officiating.  Interment will be in Thomason cemetery at Wayne City.  Visitation will be 6 to 9 Friday evening at the Johnson Chapel.
She was born in Wayne County Mar. 4, 1919, the daughter of Alonzo and Mae Bailey Withrow.
In 1936 she was married to Albert Crumbacher.
Mrs. Crumbacher was a member of the Pin Oak Missionary Baptist Church at Keenes.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Allan of DeKalb; and George of Denison, Tex.; six daughters, Shirley McKibben and Judy Scarbrough, both of Fairfield; Joyce Flack of Houston, Tex.; Louise Schick of Rochelle; Kay Barrett of Rochelle; and Fay Johnson of Louisiana; three sisters, Cleo Monroe, Fairfield; Drucilla Bozarth of Keenes; and Mildred Robinett of Sterling; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
1998 Mrs. Nova L. Payne, 85, of Wayne City, died at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 21, 1998 at Mt. Vernon Care Center.
Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and private baby-sitter.
Funeral rites were held Thursday afternoon (today) from the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Jesse Allen officiating.  Interment was in Thomason Cemetery at Wayne City.  A visitation was held at the funeral home two hours before the 1 p.m. funeral.
She was born in Wayne County June 3, 1912 the daughter of John A. and Rose Moore Robertosn.
She was married in Wayne County to Perry A. Payne.
Mrs. Payne was a member of the Salem Free Will Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; one son; three brothers and five sisters.
Surviving are a sister, Fern Hunt of Fostoria, Ohio; grandchildren Donna Mitchell of Wayne City and Gary Payne of Mt. Vernon; two great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Betty Payne of Wayne City; and several nieces and nephews.

1528 Thomas Perkins in England.  He wrote his will on April 3rd and it was probated on April 21st.  His wife’s name was Alice and they had at least three children: Henry, Joan and Juliana.  Thomas and his wife 

1704 Irena & Alithea Bradford the twin daughters of Joseph & Anne (Fitch) Bradford were born April 6, 1704 and died before the end of the month.  Joseph & Anne had another set of twins in 1715 whom they named Irene and Alithea.

1746 Thomas Loomis age 90 the son of Thomas & Hannah (Fox) Loomis was born in 1656. Here lies buried the body of Mr. Thomas Loomis who dyed April ye 19th A:D 1746 in ye 92nd year of his age.  He is buried in Edwards Cemetery in South Windsor, CT.

Elkanah Lathrop/Lothrop

Eureka! Well, almost . . . 

Back in January I put in a 3 hour research request to New England Historic Genealogical Society to find out when and where Elkanah lived after 1800, who his wife was, other children especially girls and when and where he died.  

In early March I received a notice that the research had begun and that the research should be completed in early April.  The report and documents arrived today.

1824 Caroline Clark daughter of Samuel & Phebe (Sayre) Clark age 1 month and 2 days. 

1837 Benjamin Johnson age 75 in Richland, PA the son of Caspar & Catherine (Morse) Johnson.  He was born in Richland ca. 1762 and married Abigail Roberts there in 1788.  They had eight children: Samuel, Casper, David, Elizabeth, Joseph, Anthony, Mary and Benjamin.


1994 Nellie (Robertson) Hayward the daughter of Amos & Lula (Cravens) Robertson was born in Sims, IL in 1904.  She married Varnel Hayward in Grand Valley, CO.  Nellie died in Grand Junction, CO and is buried in Battlement Mesa Cemetery in Parachute, CO.

2004 Rosalie (Gurley) Wagner age 87 in Boulder, CO.  She was born in Wayne Co., IL in 1916 the daughter of Elston & Golda (Lathrop) Gurley.  She grew up in St. Louis, MO attended college in the west.  She and her roommate worked dude ranches during the summers to raise money to cover tuition.  Rosalie married Charles Wagner in 1941 in Wayne City, IL.  They had two daughters: Charyl and Carolyn.

1890 Anolia Clark the 14 year old daughter of Levi & Emily (Rose) Clark in Lawrence Co., OH.  She was born there in 1875 and is buried in Aid Cemetery in Lawrence Co., OH.

1913 John Colclasure age 66 in Clay Co., IL.  Born in Clay Co. in 1847 he was the son of Abraham & Catherine (Galbraith) Colclasure.  He married 1) Elizabeth Adams in 1867 and 2) Laura Edwards in 1872.  John and Laura had six children: William, Mary, Abraham, Clarence, John and Solomon.  He was a farmer in Clay Co. and is buried in Oak Mound Cemetery.

1869 Solomon Hobbs age 77 in Perry, IL.  Born in Cincinnati, OH in 1791 he was the husband of Mary Young.  They married in 1811.  Solomon is buried in Perry Cemetery.



2002 Robert Dove son of Kenneth & Doris (Payne) Dove age 50.  He was born in 1952 and is buried in Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin, IL.

1754 Moses Loomis son of Nathaniel & Elizabeth (More) Loomis age 82.  He was born in Windsor, CT in 1671 and married Joanna Gibbs in 1694. He is buried in Palisado Cemetery, Windsor, CT.

1893 Shelby Cornwell Sr. died in Orange Co., IN at age 82.  The son of John & Mary (Wolfe) Cornwell, he was born in Jefferson Co., KY in 1810 but grew up in Orange Co., IN from the age of 3.  Shelby married Mary Cornwell in 1853 and they had fifteen children: Jacob, Shelby, Mary, Clarence, Harriett, Luella, Thurston, Patterson, Polk, Scott, Herman, Charles, Peter, Henry and Elizabeth.  Shelby is buried in Stamper Creek Cemetery in Orange Co., IN.

1721 Hannah (Lathrop) Perkins age 44 in Norwich, CT.  She was born there in 1677 the daughter of Samuel & Hannah (Adgate) Lathrop and married Jabez Perkins in 1698.  They had seven children: Mary, Jabez, Hannah, Elizabeth, Jacob, Lucy and Judith.

1735 John Gallop son of Capt. John & Hannah (Lake) Gallop died in 1735 at age 89.  He was born in Massachusetts in 1646 and married Elizabeth Harris in 1675.  He served as a representative to the colonial court in 1685 and again from 1696 to 1698.  John and Elizabeth had eight children:  John, Thomas, Martha, Samuel, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, William and Benjamin.

In Memoriam April 10th


1911 Bezelria Miles Parks was born Sep. 5th, 1820 in Muskingum Co., Ohio.  In 1848 on June 5 at the age of 21 he was united in marriage to Miss Maranda Edwards.  A few months after their marriage they moved to Bartholomew County, Indiana, where they resided for twelve years.  In the year of 1853 they moved to Marion County, Ill.  In the fall of 1875 they made their third move this time to Ottawa County, Kansas. For in the year 1895, June 14th the wife of his youth, and who had been his companion for fifty-four years passed away to her heavenly reward.  She was a good and kind wife and a loveable mother.  Brother and Sister Parks were parants of eight children, four boys and four girls, seven of whom still live.  One daughter passed away some years ago.

1922 William Spry age 53 in Wayne Co., IL the son of Daniel & Susan (Brooks) Spry was born in 1868.  He married Margaret Tolbert in 1890.

1979 Herman Dulaney son of William & Ida (Lathrop) Dulaney age 77.  He was born in 1901.


2012 Pam Teeter age 55 in Overland Park, MO.  She was born in Sugar Creek, MO in 1956 and married Dennis Holler in 1978.  They have one son: Ryan.

1866 Mary (Runyon) Patterson in Sangamon Co., IL age 34 the daughter of John & Sarah (Stout) Runyon.  She was born in 1841 and married William Patterson 1848 in Fayette Co., KY.  They had at least four children: Sarah, Juniatta, Martha & Amanda.  Mary is buried in Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Glenarm, IL.


1956 Richard Colclasure age 74 the son of William & Sara (Wisehart) Colclasure.  He was born in Clay Co., IL In 1881 and married Goldie Sutton in 1899.  They had at least one child.  Richard is buried in Oskaloosa Cemetery in Clay Co., IL.

Harbert Family - St. Andrew Holborn

I was looking for information on Sarah wife of Thomas Harbert.  She was supposedly born in London, ca. 1728.  My notes indicate that Thomas Harbert was born ca. 1735 in London.  I came across the entry in bold.  The record indicated that Thomas was baptized in St. Andrew Church Holborn in the borough of Camden in London.  So I looked through the records of that parish for other Harberts.  Here's who I found in the 18th century:

1609 Jacob Perkins age 1 the son of Henry & Elizabeth (Sawbridge) Perkins in England.

1718 Jane (Baldridge) Overall in Westmoreland Co., VA age 66.  She was the daughter of James & Dorothy (Cooke) Baldridge born c.a 1652 in Virginia.  She married William Overal ca. 1680 and they had at least one child: William. 

1915 Lena (Ehrhardt) Logan age 27 the son of John & Louisa (Dietz) Ehrhardt.  She was born in 1887 and married John Logan in 1907.  They had three children: Louise, George and Mary. 

1999 Nola June (Hood) Austin Mrs. Nola June Austin 59, of Morton died at 12:10 p.m. Monday Apr. 5, 1999 in that city.

1626 Elizabeth (?) Steele buried in Fairstead, England.  She was the wife of Richard Steele and they had three children: George, Richard & John.

1662 Mary (?) Janes in Northampton, MA.  She married William Janes in England ca. 1630 and immigrated in 1637.  They had twelve children: Joseph, Elisha, Nathaniel, Abel, Abigail, Ruth, Jacob, William, Rebecca, Jeremiah, Ebenezer and Jonathan. 


1692 John Capen age 80 in Dorchester, MA.  He was born in England 1612 and immigrated with his parents in 1632.  John married Raedegon Clapp in Dorchester, MA in 1637 and Mary Bass in 1647.  He is buried in Dorchester North Burying Ground.

1816 Philip Porter age 53 in Muskingum Co., OH, he was born in Baltimore, MD in 1763.  Philip married Mary Baughman in 1793 and they had three children: Henry, Elizabeth and Mary.  He is buried in Muskingum Co., OH.

1875 Lydia (Wolfe) McCoy the daughter of John & Elizabeth (Cornwell) Wolfe age 85.  She was born in 1789 and married George McCoy in 1813. They had a son, Riley.  Lydia is buried in Stampers Creek Cemetery in Orange Co., IN.

1664 William Hodges in Massachusetts.  He was born in England and immigrated ca. 1633.  He was married to Mary Andrews and they had at least one son, Henry.  William lived in Taunton, MA.

1870 James Johnson age 82 the son of Caspar & Deborah (Admason) Johnson in Pennsylvania.  He was born in Pennsylvania in 1787 and married Anna Strawn.  He is buried in the Chestnut Hill Church Cemetery in Coopersburg, PA.


1994 Vera (Robertson) Baker the daughter of Leonard & Jennie (Beattie) Robertson, aged 76.  She was born in Illinois in 1917 and married Alfred Baker in 1936.Vera is buried in Pin Oak Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

1820 Elizabeth (Hoover) Goodnight in Lincoln Co., KY.  She married Jacob Goodnight in 1792 and they had seven children:  Polly, John, Elizabeth, Henry, Isaac, Thomas & Margaret. 


1862 Joanna Carter, 6 months old the daughter of Charles & Martha (Lathrop) Carter in Lawrence Co., IL.  She is buried in Lone Tree / Prairieton Cemetery in Lawrence Co., IL.

1897 Charlotte (Brewer) Bryan age 84 in Clay Co., IL.  Born in Chatham Co., NC in 1812 she married Gideon Bryan in Randolph Co., AR in 1845.  They had one son, Wesley.  Charlotte is buried in Ingraham, IL.


1925 Mary (Simmons) Smith wife of John Smith in Clay Co., IL aged 68.  She was born in Aurora, IL in 1856. They had eleven children:  Edward, George, Hattie, Charles, Mary, Frank, Fred, Simmons, Nellie, Velma and Alta.  Mary is buried in Ingraham Cemetery in Ingraham, IL.
