In Memoriam April 6th

1866 Mary (Runyon) Patterson in Sangamon Co., IL age 34 the daughter of John & Sarah (Stout) Runyon.  She was born in 1841 and married William Patterson 1848 in Fayette Co., KY.  They had at least four children: Sarah, Juniatta, Martha & Amanda.  Mary is buried in Cumberland Sugar Creek Cemetery in Glenarm, IL.


1956 Richard Colclasure age 74 the son of William & Sara (Wisehart) Colclasure.  He was born in Clay Co., IL In 1881 and married Goldie Sutton in 1899.  They had at least one child.  Richard is buried in Oskaloosa Cemetery in Clay Co., IL.


1978 Raymond Lathrop son of Joel & Louisa (Dove) Lathrop in Illinois age 58.  He was born in Wayne Co., IL in 1919 and never married.  He is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

2006  Betty L. (WIlson) Gentle, 74, of Mt. Vernon died 11:55 a.m. April 6, 2006, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Gentle was born May 11, 1931 in Jefferson County to Raymond and Vivian (Wilderman) Wilson.  She married Norman Gentle April 1, 1950, in Jefferson County; he survives.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.  The Revs.  Merle Fullerton and Melvin Larson will officiate.  Burial will follow at Cubb Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Gentle is survived by her husband Norman Gentle of Mt. Vernon; two daughters Rebecca Catron and husband Dwight of Belle Rive and Deanna Gentle of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren Nicholas Catron of Belle Rive and Leslie Catron of Belle Rive; two step grandchildren, Jessica Summers and husband Dennis of Benton and Larry Catron of Wayne City; four step great grandchildren Micaela Catron, Jacelyn Catron, Celia Summers and Braden Summers; two brothers Otto Wilson and wife Molly of Mt. Vernon and Donald Wilson and wife Marian of Deltona, Fla.; and two sisters Lois Wilkerson and husband Kenneth Wilkerson of Belle Rive and Lila Shelton and husband James of Dahlgren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Murrell Wilson.

Mrs. Gentle was a member of Logan Street Baptists Church in Mt. Vernon.


For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Mt. Olive Church in care of the Jefferson County Historical Society.
