1838 Sarah Maulding daughter of Andrew & Hester (Hopkins) Maulding.  She married William Pain/Payne and died 1855 at age 17.  She is buried in Olive Branch Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.

While working on the April posts I came across this event for April 5th.  Even though it isn't a birthday or an anniversary, I decided to include it.  At first I just typed up Ambrose Maulding's will, but as I was working on it I began to wonder about the evidence regarding his American Revolutionary War service.  I do not have any primary source documents about it.  I reread all the sources I own and checking online sources.  I came across a reference to Mansker's Fort which has been reconstructed in Moss-Wright Park in Goodlettsville, TN.  On Monday I drove down and toured the reconstructed station.  Then I went over to the Sumner County Archives in Gallatin.  There I found what I was looking for an quite a bit more.  Lastly, I drove over to Cross Plains, TN to look for the site of the first Maulding's Station.  Here's what I found . . .
