Harry L. Fitzgerald, 78, of Fairfield passed away at 2:16 a.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at SSM Health Good Samaritan in Mt. Vernon, IL. He was born November 13, 1944 in Fairfield to John & Helen (Hudson) Fitzgerald. Harry attended Fairfield Community High School and then joined he Marine Corps, where he served in Vietnam. After returning home he worked at Airtex, then moved to Shelbyville, IL to work for cable TV. Harry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved boating.
Harry is survived by daughter Brittany (Steve) Washburn of Maryville, IL; son Harry Fitzgerald Jr. of Fort Worth, TX; sister Pansie Markham of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, son Brandon Miller, 5 brother and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW.
