Darrell Lee Blakey, 68 of Woodlawn, Illinois, passed away at 12:04 am April 6, 2020 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born October 20, 1951 in Highland, Illinois to the late Charles & Rosella (Hodge) Blakey. Darrell married Debra (Shelton) Blakey on December 9, 2000.

In addition to his beloved wife of nearly twenty years, Darrell is survived by his sons, Michael Blakey and wife Verbal of St. Louis, Missouri, Matthew Blakey of Marion, Illinois, Mark Blakey and wife, Chrissy of Algonquin, Illinois; stepchildren, Jacqueline Withrow & husband Steve of Bluford, Illinois, Nickolas Tannahill and girlfriend Maria Foehner of Chatham, Illinois; grandchildren, Justin Blakey, Jayden Blakey, Jackson Blakey, Nina Blakey, Brittney Withrow, Conner Withrow, Benjamin Withrow; sisters Donna Gibbs & husband Vincent of Fults, Illinois, Brenda Wedel & husband John of O'Fallon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his brothers, Duane, Timothy, Rodney & David Blakey and nephew Bryan Taylor.

Darrell was an expert carpenter and had worked in carpentry his entire life. In 2007 he had retired from the construction firm Impact Strategies of O'Fallon, Illinois. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 664. In his retirement, he loved spending time in his wood shop and building things for other people. Family was an important part of his life and he enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. 

Private services will be held. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Darrell's honor to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
