In Memoriam - October 7th

1770 Nathan Bushnell age 84 was born in Norwich, CT  in 1686 the son of Joseph & Mary (Leffingwell) Bushnell.

1850 Margaret (?) Lathrop in Indiana, she was born in Canada in 1782.  Margaret was the wife of Ezra Lathrop and they had two children: Harriet and Elkanah.  She is buried in Sandcreek Cemetery in Decatur, IN.

1854 Samuel Clark in Clinton Co., MO age 86.  He was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1768 the son of James & Esther (Marsh) Clark.  Samuel married Mary Darby in 1791 and they had eight children: Samuel, Cornelius, Joel, Hannah, James, Amos, Rebecca and Sarah.  The family moved to Ohio between 1805 and 1810 where they stayed until about 1837 when Samuel moved with his daughter Hannah’s family to Missouri.  He is buried in Gash Cemetery which is now in north Kansas City, MO.


1917 Amanda Garrison 3 year old daughter of William & Catherine (Richardson) Garrison.

1921 Thomas Cassady in Oldham Co., KY age 75.  The son of William & Sarah (Stonestreet) Cassady was born in Kentucky in 1845.  He married Sarah Speer in 1865 and they had nine children: Ada, Cora, Charles, David, Marion, John, Archie, Guy and Ida.  Thomas is buried in Mt. Tabor Methodist Church in Crestwood, KY.

2008 Eva A. Snyder, 76, of Farina, formerly of Portage, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Rees Funeral Home — Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana. An additional visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pagel Funeral Home, 704 Broad Street, Edgewood.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood. Burial will be in Iola Cemetery.
Mrs. Snyder was born November 2, 1931, in Effingham, the daughter of Oliver and Leitha Jewell.
She moved to the Portage, Indiana, area in 1947, when she married Dale Snyder November 1, 1947, in Gary, Indiana. They moved to Garyton, Indiana, and lived there for 35 years until they retired and moved to Farina. Eva retired from Gary Screw and Bolt after 20 years of service.
She loved being with her grandchildren, taking care of animals, enjoyed gardening and going to auctions.
She is survived by her loving family, son, William Oliver (friend, Deborah) Snyder of Powell River, British Columbia; daughter, Sheila (Lester) Shreve of Portage, Indiana; grandchildren, Kristie Snyder, Katie Beckham, Brant Snyder, Troy Snyder, Jacob (Dana) Shreve, Dale Lovell, Timmy Lovell, Amanda Snyder, Kyle Snyder and Brian Shreve; brother, Edward Jewell of Effingham; sister, Fanny (husband, Jerry) Rhodes of St. Elmo; eight great-grandchildren; two dogs that were her "special boys," Pee Wee and Chico; and other loving family and dear friends.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Snyder Sr.; son, Dale Edwin Snyder Jr.; granddaughter, Maryann Snyder; sisters, Helen Snyder and Laura Hinds; and brother, Raymond Jewell.
2008 Wanda (Keen) Kincart in Fairfield, IL age 73.  She was born in Wayne Co., IL in 1934 the daughter of Clyde & Dorothy (Shaw) Keen. Wanda married Wayne Kincart in 1954 and they had four children: Dallas, Wanda, Laura and Lois.  She is buried in Koontz Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.
