1930 de Lafayette
Madison Fitzgerald died in Weber Sanitarium in Olney, IL. So live, that when the summons comes to join the innumerable
caravan which moves to that mysterious realm, where each shall take his chamber
in the silent halls of death. Thou go
not like the quarry slave at night, scourged to his dungeon, but sustained and
soothed. Does an unfaltering trust
approach thy grace, like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him, and
lies down to pleasant dreams.
Thus passed Madison Lafayette Fitzgerald on February 2nd while at Weber Sanitarium. The surroundings and circumstances of his death are best descriptive of the man. He died as he had lived; his chart had no blind voids, his compass was steady, and his course straight. He was the son of William H. and Emily Fitzgerald, born near Louisville, Illinois on June 15, 1869. He was 60 years, 7 months and 17 days of age.
On Oct. 1, 1891 he was united in marriage to May Halberstadt. To this union six children were born: Three sons and three daughters. One daughter, Nellie, died in infancy. He joined the Protestant Methodist Church as a young man. His spiritual life was manifested in his faith, courage, and righteousness. He leaves to mourn their loss his loving companion, three sons Bryan, Earl and Glenn; two daughters Mrs. William Synder of Farina and Mrs. B.M. Sims of Chicago. Also, five brothers; John and Howard of Iola, Stewart of Louisville, and Wake. And four sisters; Pearl of Farina, Mrs. Rose Wolfe, Mrs. Laura Woods and Mrs. Flora Burges, all of Flora, Illinois, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
