Find-a-Grave indicates that this John Duncan is the son of John & Elizabeth (Holtzclaw) Duncan.  Once upon a time I thought Mary's parents were John & Elizabeth (Holtzclaw) Duncan and proved that to be incorrect.  I didn't check to see if he was her brother.  The other possibility is that the "descendants" listed here had accepted John & Elizabeth (Holtzclaw) Duncan as this John's parents and Mary's parents in error.
