1742 - John Overall wrote his will on September 16 [I've cleaned up the spelling]:
John Overall of the Parish of Hamilton in the County of Prince William being sick and weak of body.
Unto my son John Overall all my land which is six hundred and thirty acres except some part that shall be hereafter mentioned. The land is in two tracts and lying on Turkey Run and the Chestnut Branch the one I bought of Leonard Helms, Sr., the other of Thomas Whitledg[e]. The beginning of both tracts is now in Whitledge's mill dam and if my son John Overall should die without heir lawfully begotten of his body then the aforesaid land to be equally divided between my three daughters and also I give him two good feather beds and furniture, two negros Caesar a boy, Judah a girl, one oval table, one small table, one great chest, one small chest, one horse of ten pound price, saddle, pistols, holsters, sword, one cow and calf, one young steer of three year old, one sow and pigs, one ten gallon iron pot and hooks, two pot racks, one pewter dish and six plates, two pistols, one iron pot of two gallons now with his grandmother, a brass mortar and pestle, an iron pestle, large pair of tongs, a dripping pan and a iron spit.
To my daughter Mary Overall one good feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one sow and pigs, one pewter dish, six plates, her mother's side saddle and a gelding.
To my daughter Sarah Overall one good feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one sow and pigs, one pewter dish, six plates, six hundred pound of tobacco to buy her a side saddle and her mother's lace hat, twelve shillings to buy her a gold ring.
To my daughter Behethland Overall one good feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one sow and pigs, one pewter dish, six plates, six hundred pound of tobacco to buy her a side saddle and a broken gold ring.
To my son William Overall all that part of land in both tracts that is on the west side of Turkey Run except one acre of land that is convenient for building a mill anywhere on the side of the run. I give this land only for his life not to lease nor sell it, but to work on it as he please himself or any belonging to him not wasting the timber and after his death to return to my son John Overall as aforesaid and also I give him one feather bed and furniture, the one horse that is called his and at age to act and do for himself at my death.
To my loving mother one barrel of wheat, one barrel of corn, one hundred pound of hog meat yearly for two years this present year and next if please God she lives to receive it.
I also leave my son John Overall to be with my brother Nathaniel Overall at the age of seven years to be put to school till he is fourteen and then to be kept to work till he is eighteen years old, then to be of age to act and do for himself. Also his five negros before mentioned to be taken with him to work for his schooling and clothing and diet and their own.
The remainder of my estate not before mentioned to be equally divided between my three daughters before mentioned.
I appoint my good friend William Whitledge my executor of this my last will and testament and in case of his death I appoint my brother Nathaniel Overall in his stead.

Wit: Jno. Dagg, John Whitledge, Wm. (W) Stark.1743 - Feb. 28 John's will was proved by the oaths of John Dagg and John Whitledge two of the witnesses thereto. William Whitledge the executor therein named having relinquished his right of executorship, on the motion of Nathaniel Overall certificate is granted him for obtaining letters of administration with the will annexed.
Bond of Nathaniel Overall, John Dagg and Lewis Reno unto the worshipful the gentlemen justices of the county of Prince William for £500. Nathaniel Overall is administrator with the will annexed of John Overall, deceased.
Appraisal of estate of John Overall, dec., made in obedience to order of 28 Feb. 1742. Appraisers sworn before Thomas Harrison Junr., Gent.
Includes a servant man £4.10.0 and servant boy £7 and two negroes valued at £45.
